Position Details:
The Graham Office of Career Management provides comprehensive career services for all Gatton College of Business & Economics undergraduate and graduate students. The Career Advisor 1 position provides individual career counseling sessions focused on all levels of the career development process, including: career assessment, career exploration, decision-making, internships, resume development, job search strategies, interviewing skills, job offer evaluation, salary negotiation, and graduate school planning. In addition to career counseling, this position provides coordination of the internship program for both credit and non-credit bearing internships. Program components include 1) managing and providing instruction for a web-based course which supports students’ reflection of their internship experience as it relates to their academic discipline and career development, 2) overseeing course enrollments 3) coordinating administrative elements such as the collection of internship learning contracts, time sheets, and evaluations and 4) managing internship employer relationships to maintain and enhance partnerships between hiring companies and Gatton students. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with staff to support recruiting events, workshops, and classroom presentations as well as serving as the Graham Office liaison to Gatton student organizations. Educational requirements include a graduate degree (MA/MS in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, or HR. A MBA degree with related experience in career services or HR will also be considered) and at least three years of relevant experience. Preferred credentials include certification in counseling as well as with career assessment tools such as the MBTI and SII.
