Advertising Sales Consultant, Central Kentucky News Journal- Campbellsville, KY

The Central Kentucky News-Journal, a weekly community newspaper located in Campbellsville, Kentucky, seeks qualified candidates for the position of Advertising Sales Consultant.

This full-time exempt position is responsible for the development and successful implementation of immediate, short-term and long-term strategies to accelerate revenue and profit growth of print and online advertising products and services of the newspaper. The Advertising Sales Consultant is responsible for direct sales to active and prospective advertising clients in Taylor County and neighboring communities. Meeting and exceeding customer service expectations in order to achieve revenue growth goals and objectives is key.

  • Demonstrated high ethical standards.
  • Experience in successful goal-oriented and results-driven newspaper advertising sales.
  • Experience in developing and launching profitable advertising products and services for newspaper, online or other media.
  • Strong customer needs-based selling skill and the ability to develop this skill in others.
  • Ability to think and plan strategically.
  • Ability to assist the General Manager-Editor with timely and accurate financial analysis regarding strategic advertising rate and pricing decisions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently coordinate multiple projects on deadline and on budget.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skill and ability to bring different individuals, departments and/or business units together to achieve a common goal.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in advertising, marketing or related field or the equivalent in direct work history experience.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation to make sales calls

Essential Functions:

  • Meet advertising revenue goals of the newspaper on a consistent basis.
  • Identify and develop profitable print and online advertising products and services to meet existing customer needs in the local and area market.
  • Routinely meet with key advertising customers to identify and respond to their advertising needs.
  • Collaborate with other key company leaders and staff to improve products and services to meet and exceed customer expectations and achieve business objectives.
  • Assist the General Manager-Editor in developing and implementing short-term and long-term strategic plans to accomplish company objectives.
  • Identify and capture profitable advertising opportunities that exist in the local and area market.
  • Assist the General Manager-Editor in developing and successfully operating within annual department expense budgets.
