Come be part of the Ark Encounter team! There are a variety of positions available at the Ark Encounter with a variety of available shifts and schedules.

 

Ark Encounter employees are on a mission to create the best experience possible for our guests. The ideal candidate is passionate about the Ark Encounters vision and serving others, enthusiastic, energetic, an excellent multi-tasker, and able and willing to fill or change positions quickly. Bilingual skills are a plus.

 

All Ark Encounter employees must be able to move and stand for long periods of time, meet lifting requirements, perform duties in varied weather conditions (e.g., extreme heat/cold, rain), subject to a background check, confirm agreement with the Ark Encounters Statement of Faith, and adhere to our drug-free workplace policy.

Generalists- (Guest Services, Retail, & Culinary Services)

 

A Generalist is a versatile team member that will work a combination of hours and shifts throughout the Ark Encounter property in the Guest Services, Retail, and Culinary Services Departments. Team members are responsible for maintaining high quality service for all Ark guests through service, sales and safety.

 

Qualifications: All Generalists must be able to stand and move about the Park for the entire length of shift, perform duties in varied weather conditions (e.g., extreme heat/cold, rain), bend, and lift between 25 to 75 pounds. To excel as a Generalist in each of the three departments you will be responsible for the following:

 

Guest Services

Guest Services creates the first impression for all guests throughout their visit at the Ark Encounter. Guest Services Team members are primarily located at the Ark entry/exit points, ticketing kiosks, and the parking lot. The Guest Services Team members responsibility is to ensure a seamless entry/exit for our all guests and provide Ark knowledge and event information with guests.

Additional Qualifications: Possess excellent customer service skills to assist our guests in a friendly and welcoming manner, proactively interact with guests and be able to assertively direct and enforce traffic flow, utilize basic math skills, and complete cash-handling training upon hire.

 

Retail

The Retail Team Members are responsible for providing a best-in-class retail experience by engaging directly with guests to assist with product inquiries and transact purchases in a quick and efficient manner. Retail Team Members also interact directly with guests using effective selling techniques, engage with guests asking open-ended questions to assess needs, and anticipate guest needs with directions, event schedules, Ark information, and complete transactions using Point of Sale systems (cash registers). The Retail Team is responsible for ensuring accurate pricing, tracking inventory, maintaining displays and cleanliness of the store, and re-stocking.

Additional Qualifications: Minimum experience of one year in retail/cashier environments preferred but not required, ALL team members must pass cash-handling training upon hire. Must be able to stand and move about the Park for the entire length of shift, perform duties in varied weather conditions (e.g., extreme heat/cold, rain), bend, and lift between 25 to 75 pounds.

 

Culinary Services

The Culinary Services Team members are responsible for greeting guests and creating an exceptional dining experience. Culinary Services Team members are required to complete transactions using a point-of-sale system (cash register), follow all cash-handling policies, maintain clean work environment throughout kitchen and dining room areas, and follow all food safety and sanitation policies and procedures. May also be trained and required to cook and assemble food items.

Additional Qualifications: Possess excellent customer service skills to assist our guests in a friendly and welcoming manner, utilize basic math skills, and complete cash-handling and food safety training upon hire, prior food service experience preferred but not required.

 

Housekeeping

The Housekeeping Team ensures the day-to-day cleanliness of the Ark facilities and grounds. In addition, Housekeeping Team members should anticipate guest needs and help address questions/concerns. The Housekeeping Associates are responsible for the overall cleanliness throughout the Ark property, buildings, and grounds in accordance with Ark standards. Remove and dispose of trash/recyclables according to policy. May also assist with set up and break down for special events and meetings.

Qualifications: Prior custodial experience preferred, must be self-motivated and a proactive team player. Must be able to stand and move about the Park for the entire length of shift, perform duties in varied weather conditions (e.g., extreme heat/cold, rain), bend, and lift between 50 to 75 pounds.

 

Transportation

The Transportation Team is responsible for proper and safe operation of employee and guest shuttle bus transportation on Ark Encounter property. Shuttle Drivers provide all Ark guests and staff with prompt and friendly transportation throughout their visit, greet guests, and provide on-boarding assistance (wheelchairs, strollers, and other mobility devices).

Qualifications: Must be able to stand and move about the Park for the entire length of shift, perform duties in varied weather conditions (e.g., extreme heat/cold, rain), bend, and lift between 25 to 75 pounds. ALL Transportation Team members are subject to DMV/MVR check as part of the background check process. Drivers must possess a valid state CDL drivers license with passenger endorsements.

 

Facilities Maintenance

The Facilities Maintenance Team is responsible for the upkeep, care, and stewardship of the Ark Encounter throughout the property. The Maintenance Associates are responsible for general maintenance activities such as basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding, and metal fabrication. Maintenance Associates also assist in preventative maintenance programs such as changing furnace filters, cleaning HVAC units, and routine maintenance of facilities.

Qualifications: Minimum experience of one year in maintenance/facilities environments highly preferred, must be 18 years of age or older, must be able to stand and move about the Park for the entire length of shift, perform duties in varied weather conditions (e.g., extreme heat/cold, rain), bend, and lift between 50 to 100 pounds.

 

Logistics

The Logistics Team is responsible for maintaining warehouse support in pulling, cleaning, and staging product for shipment along with shipping and receiving product to and from vendors. The Logistics Associates load and unload products and/or equipment as shipments arrive at the Ark property, pull and put stock away in accordance with specification using appropriate equipment (e.g. forklift, pallet jack, and other small vehicles), pack, stock, organize, and rearrange products in the warehouse. Perform on-grounds deliveries throughout the Ark property, provide assistance with commissary operations, and support maintenance/general upkeep of warehouse facilities.

Qualifications: Minimum experience of one year in shipping and receiving environments highly preferred, must be 18 years of age or older, must pass forklift operating training upon hire, must be able to stand and move about the Park for the entire length of shift, perform duties in varied weather conditions (e.g., extreme heat/cold, rain), bend, and lift between 50 to 75 pounds.

 

Grounds/ Horticulture

The Horticulture and Grounds team participate in a range of grounds maintenance practices to ensure our guests are exposed to attractive natural settings, beautiful garden displays and park settings, as well as educational gardens. Associates are responsible for day to day involvement in the growing of plants and implementation of reliable growing processes, including pesticide applications, irrigation, temperature, growing media, fertilization, nutrition, and monitoring the overall health of plants. May operate power equipment such as bobcats, tractors, mowers, chainsaws, weed eater, blowers etc., hand tools such as pruners hand saw, hammer, shovels, rakes, pitch forks etc. Assist in keeping gardens in balance with regards to insect and disease problems, seasonal mulching and dyeing of garden areas, fall leaf removal. May assist in installation of irrigation, drain tile, stone walls, pavers, water features, Christmas lights and outdoor landscape lights.

Zoo

The Zoo Team is responsible for the animal care on the Ark property. This unique opportunity offers the chance to gain valuable knowledge in the workings of zoological institutions and the basics of animal husbandry techniques. Since it is a handson position, the Zoo Associate is expected to be involved in all facets of the Arks animal care program, related to cleaning animal enclosures (e.g. rake, hose, sweep, disinfect, remove manure, clean building), operate contact areas, and prepare animal diets/drink under the guidance of the Keeper staff. Additionally, Zoo Associates will work with guests to during animal presentations and direct interaction with the animals. Zoo Associates are expected to ensure the safety and care of the animals as well as the guests or other employees.

Qualifications: Minimum experience of one year in animal care environment and pursuing an associates degree or bachelors degree in zoology or related field preferred, must be 18 years of age or older, must be able to stand and move about the Park for the entire length of shift, perform duties in varied weather conditions (e.g., extreme heat/cold, rain), bend, and lift between 50 to 100 pounds.
