Associate Pastor/Student Minster, Buck Creek Baptist Church-Calhoun,KY

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in related fields is preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates with equivalent experience.
  • Possesses the ability to take responsibility and motivated for the ministry being lead.
  • A commitment to our Baptist Faith and Message is required. Buck Creek Baptist Church enjoys an affiliation with the Southern Baptist Convention, Daviess- Mclean Baptist association.
  • Seek God’s Word and God’s leading to work in a Christ-exalting, gospel-centered Baptist Church.
  • Has accepted a divine call to lead, shepherd, disciple and connect with the students.
  • Ability to learn and develop new skills and adapt to diverse situations.
  • Shall be licensed by a Southern Missionary Baptist Church and at minimum moving toward ordination. (Ordained/experienced candidate is preferred but not required.)
  • CDL licensed required or must attain within a few months of hire date.
  • Familiar with current technologies used in modern worship services.

Responsibilities:

  • The Associate pastor is responsible to the Senior Pastor for planning, coordinating, directing and evaluating student ministries of the Church.
  • Fill the pulpit in the absence of Pastor.
  • Provide a vision for the student ministry.
  • Work with other student leaders to coordinate community outreach and ministry.
  • Help plan evangelism events for different age groups in the Church
  • Coordinate and work with the adult volunteer leaders to ensure discipleship training is age appropriate.
  • Lead in discipling the students by working with current adults involved in this effort.
  • Assist in transitioning the college age into adult ministries in the church. This is a critical stage in their life when many will leave the church if not intentionally challenged/nurtured.
  • Help provide teaching/training curriculum for students and be aware of available options.
  • Provide training opportunities for new and current student leaders.
  • Provide appropriate activities/training to reach and involve parents of the student ministry.
  • Utilize social media to promote awareness and attendance of activities.
  • Visit youth and high school campus facilities for personal contact and counseling with students.
  • Plan and submit a financial budget to meet the needs of the student ministry to the budget and finance committee for approval. Administer the approved budget as required.
  • Network with other evangelical student ministry leaders in the community to support them in starting and strengthening school campus ministries
  • Attend deacon meetings to share ministry progress, blessings and challenges.
  • Support both Sunday morning worship services. (Choice of worshipping in either service and be available for greeting time during the other.)
  • Be active in outreach programs of the church.

Supervision: The Associate Pastor/Student Minister is under the supervision of the pastor at Buck Creek Baptist Church, providing leadership to the church through planning, coordinating, directing and evaluating the ministries of the church.

90 Day Review: Personnel Committee and Pastor will meet with Associate Pastor to assess initial fit and establish goals/expectations for future outlook of ministry.

Annual Review (from hire date): Personnel Committee and Pastor will meet with Associate Pastor to evaluate performance and to encourage feedback on what resources are needed to make this ministry more affective.
