Business Analyst (REMOTE) FT, Wiley – Louisville, KY

As a Business Analyst for Wiley’s Student Experience, you will design and document workflow processes and detailed system development requirements, as well as provide solutions to new business unit ideas, trends, and concepts appropriately through the latest technological paths.  The business analyst must understand the customer’s business requirements and apply business process management to meet the customer’s needs.

How you will make an impact:

  • Collect, analyze, document business processes, system requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Write detailed user stories and test cases
  • Assist in data flow, detailed field mapping, and data governance
  • Develop a consistent process for administering, tracking, and communicating all IT and product deployments
  • Analyze historical trends and develop new insights and perspectives
  • Collaborate on and inform cross-functional teams of new feature technical design, technical requirements, limitations, and implementation.
  • Articulate development status to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Continually refine business acumen and establish domain / industry vertical expertise.
  • Work closely with the marketing teams, including brand management, content, SEO, and UX to build front end experiences that meet the changing needs of our visitors and drive leads.
  • To ensure business stakeholders and end users requirements are understood and met by the development team
  • So that business requirements are fully understood, and testing can be effective in ensuring business satisfaction
  • Establishment of data governance practices to enable good business processes and student satisfaction
  • Allowing internal and external stakeholders to understand system changes
  • To drive business direction and predict future business performance
  • To ensure work required by other teams or from other teams are understood, prioritized, and processed to achieve the project goals across multiple teams.
  • To ensure stakeholders, both technical and not, understand the status of the project, updates, and any roadblocks that may prohibit the project from being successful.
  • To establish subject matter expertise in the area of business in which you work. Establishing this knowledge builds trust with our partners and allows us to provide better guidance in the future.
  • To build engaging customer sites that generate high quality leads for our business partners which ultimately convert to students.

We are looking for people who have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Process Engineering, or Computer Science or Equivalent Work Experience
  • 3-5 years in Information Technology, systems integration and/or quality assurance
  • Previous experience planning and managing large projects
  • Experience enhancing and supporting large-scale, mission critical applications
  • Proficiency documenting designs, user stories and development requirements.
  • Proficiency with field mapping and data governance best practices.
  • Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic level of technical knowledge of development, databases, and operating systems related to the area being supported.
  • Strong business writing skills.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Excellent presentation and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work constructively with team members towards a common goal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Great at multi-tasking and delivering quality solutions under deadlines.
  • Is able to use technology to communicate efficiently and effectively (e-mail, telecommunications)
  • Is able to use PC software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation) to save time and optimize personal and/or departmental productivity
  • Understands platforms upon which products and services operate
  • Understands the importance of data flow, data integrity, and business process efficiency, as well as the potential role technology could play to improve or enhance them
  • Sets goals, and develops strategies and plans for meeting those
  • Is able to break down complex problems/ tasks into manageable parts, and allocates own time efficiently
  • Follows-up in an efficient manner
