The GHC Kids Co-leader will work with the Children’s Minister to create an environment where children can grow to love Jesus passionately, love one another unconditionally and love all people sacrificially.
• Work with the Family Ministry Team to develop and implement a cohesive strategy to help kids take their next steps toward Christ, including selecting curriculum that supports the overall goal for the ministry
• Work with the Children’s Minister to coordinate, plan and execute children’s ministry programming on Sundays and Wednesdays
• Work with our worship minister to engage children in worship (i.e. recruiting adults to lead the children in live worship, building a kids worship team, selecting and loading songs for Sundays and Wednesdays)
• Be prepared to lead a small group or teach in a large group setting as needed
• Assist in recruiting and training volunteers to serve in children’s ministry.
• Maintain regular communication with volunteers to ensure that children’s ministry is fully staffed for Sundays and Wednesdays and that volunteers are cared for, appreciated, and have the resources they need
• Assist with pastoral care for children and their families
• Actively encourage small group leaders to connect with families and kids during the week
• Create and continuously improve follow-up methods to ensure that new kids and their families are plugged into GHC
• Work with the Children’s Minister to coordinate and plan special events for GHC Kids including but not limited to Trunk or Treat, VBS, and Easter Egg Hunt
• Plan and lead at least one new outreach initiative for children/families.
• Establish partnerships with local schools and organizations to serve families in our community Administration
• Help manage supplies, and resources needed to make kids ministry successful
• Work with the Children’s Minister to develop a budget for GHC Kids.
• Assist in editing curriculum and distributing it to volunteers in a timely manner.
• Ensure that check-in areas, ministry spaces, signage, and GHC app and website are clear, current and focused on kids and their families
• Create and maintain a safe environment for kids, including those with special needs at GHC
• Maintain a strong working relationship with the leadership and staff of Heart and Soul Preschool Parent Engagement
• Leverage digital (GHC App and Website) and social media strategies to keep parents inspired and informed.
• Work with the Children’s Minister to Implement a strategy to help parents stay connected and to provide resources and experiences that equip parents to help their kids take their next steps toward Christ.
• Adhere to the expectations of all GHC employees, as defined by the Staff Culture Statement and the Staff Handbook.
• Acquire practical tools to minister to children through hands on experience coupled with ongoing evaluation to learn from the experience
• Meet regularly with the Children’s Minister and Associate Pastor for supervision and mentoring in order to grow into increasing levels of responsibility and leadership
• Spend time in every area of Family Ministry including our First Steps Nursery ministry to gain a solid grasp of the entire ministry and how the whole ministry works together.
