Primary Role: Provide coordination and supervision of staff within the Student Life Program at the Kentucky School for the Deaf.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise students in the dorm to maintain accountability for student’s whereabouts, safety and welfare.
- Support development of literacy.
- Enforce student Code of Conduct.
- Supervise and support staff.
- Conduct frequent spot checks across all dormitories throughout duration of second shift and document observations.
- Apply and enforce school policy and procedure.
- Approve staff timesheets, leave requests and schedules.
- Conduct staff meetings.
- Develop communication plan between shifts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This is a second shift position and will be paid a 10% shift differential for second shift hours.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- American Sign Language (ASL) skills
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in student development, education, deaf education, counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of experience working with individuals in a student development or education program.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience working with individuals in a student development program or an educational program will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Work is typically performed in an office or instructional setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 12 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
