Volunteer Coordinator, CASA, Full Time, Bardstown KY

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Nelson County Program is hiring a Volunteer Coordinator Position. A qualified individual will be passionate about advocating for abused, neglected, or dependent children in our community. This position will require the candidate to actively recruit, screen, and train new CASA volunteers. Candidates will demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills and have a knowledge of child abuse and families in crisis. Must pass background checks.

*Location: CASA of Nelson County, Bardstown, Kentucky 40004

*Status/Schedule: Full-time/Non-Exempt, Mon – Fri 8AM-5PM, occasional weekend/evening

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in social-services related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree is preferred, but not required.

Experience/Background: Prior experience in working with families in crisis, communications, marketing, community outreach, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are imperative. Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines. Excellent computer and technology skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, Google Drive, email marketing, and social media networks.

Special Requirements: Commitment to the program’s mission, goals, and standards. Must have completed CASA of Nelson County volunteer training or schedule the training upon hire. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age; have a valid driver’s license; submit to a pre-employment screening and criminal background check.

Essential Job Functions

  • Schedule and maintain calendar for all applicants and interviewers (staff and volunteers).
  • Coordinate all administrative processes for volunteers and applicants from interviewing through training, including all calendar management via database system.
  • Support training specialists.
  • Process reference checks for volunteer applicants, and document in OPTIMA (case management system).
  • Review documentation in OPTIMA for department and maintain regular quality assurance checks to ensure accurate data and reporting.
  • Assist with in-service coordination for volunteers, including updating training section in monthly e-newsletter, sending out flyers and reminders, updating website.
  • Create volunteer e-newsletter monthly including: updating mailing list, coordination with webmaster for updates on website, and newsletter content.
  • Orients volunteers on shelter care and court observation.
  • Provides great customer service to volunteers and visitors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary: $14.00 to $16.00 /hour
