Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Nicholasville, KY is seeking a part-time Youth Minister/Leader.
We are seeking an individual to serve as a part-time youth minister/leader in a Southern Baptist Church in a rural area close to Lexington, Nicholasville, and Versailles. The ideal candidate will direct and oversee the youth ministry, educate, minister to, and include teens in the ministries of the church. This person needs to be accountable to God, the pastor(s), and the church in the performance of duties assigned to the position. The candidate should be a stable, mature Christian with spiritual gifts in shepherding, mercy showing, teaching, and knowledge of basic Baptist beliefs and willing to share with those around. Should show compassion, dependability, a discreet person, good communicator, and leader. The youth minister/leader should also lead in church worship services with the youth.
Responsibilities will include (but not limited to) the following duties:
- Give direction and oversee the youth ministry. Identify the needs and interests of teens within the church and community. Provide counseling and spiritual direction to teens on an individual basis.
- Plan and develop new programs for the youth as well as evaluate existing programs to determine effectiveness.
- Meet regularly with the youth committee to pray, discuss upcoming events, challenges, solutions, and praises.
- Recruit youth workers and provide training as needed. Lead and encourage the youth to serve in mission projects.
- Lead Sunday School as well as Sunday and Wednesday evening activities for teens.
- Plan at least one yearly youth retreat for the purpose of spiritual edification.
- Visit hospitalized/homebound teens and encourage other teens to do the same.
- Encourage the youth to become more actively involved in other aspects of the church in preparing them to become mentors and leaders.
