CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – What’s the best way to know if you’re going to like living on a college campus? Visiting, of course, and attending an orientation program that tells you what you need to know about your first year of college.
Campbellsville University offers four LINC new student orientation sessions with the next one planned for Thursday and Friday, July 8-9. A fourth LINC is set for Thursday and Friday, July 29-30.
Josh Anderson, dean of students, said, “LINC is the best opportunity for you and your family to see firsthand your new ‘home away from home.’”
“Attending one of our LINC New Student Orientations is vitally important to the transition and success of entering this exciting new phase of your life as a student at Campbellsville University.”
LINC is an overnight event designed to acquaint students and families with campus life, which will “LINC” you to the services and opportunities available at Campbellsville University.
Anderson said the focus of the two-day event is to introduce the new students and families to the faculty and staff.
“Meeting the faculty and staff helps develop a relationship and that enables each student to feel more comfortable talking and reaching out to one of us for assistance once the fall semester begins in August,” Anderson said.
“This relationship is critical to the family atmosphere that we pride ourselves on here at CU and we are looking forward to each new student and his/her family joining the CU family this summer and upcoming fall.”
At a LINC session, which stands for “Learn in a New Environment,” “Invest in Your Future,” “Navigate Life Change” and “Connect to Campbellsville University,” students accomplish various tasks that will acquaint them with the campus and get them a head start for when they start in the fall.
Students can meet with their academic advisor, schedule classes, get a university ID and parking decal, visit various offices such as financial aid, business services and admissions, choose a meal plan/option and take a brief placement test called COMPASS.
The university has a group of upperclass students who work with LINC as they interact with the new students.
Deadlines for making a reservation are one week prior to the orientation date you request as a first choice.
There is no cost to attend a LINC session, but there is a $5 charge for the evening meal for each person accompanying the student.
