Campbellsville University School of Music to host Gala Concert Feb. 25

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.— The School of Music at Campbellsville University will host its first Gala Concert and Dinner Dance Friday, Feb. 25.

The event is a fundraiser for the newly forming Campbellsville String Academy, an organization committed to providing string education for school-age children in Campbellsville and the surrounding area.

Juliana Moura, an instructor in voice at CU, said the original idea was just a concert to feature the music staff
in a formal gala event. However, it quickly evolved into something bigger.

“We realized that the string department was working to start a string academy for the community,” Moura said.

“The department is looking to raise $10,000 to start the program so we came up with the idea to use the gala
concert as a way of helping them to raise the money.”

The University Orchestra, conducted by Dr. J. Robert Gaddis and Wansoo Cho, will present a concert at 6 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel. Following the concert will be an evening of dinner and ballroom dancing accompanied by live music in the Student Activities Center.

“We have never had any event like this around here,” Moura said. “This could be a great way to start a tradition.”

Tickets must be reserved by Feb. 7.
