CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.—Campbellsville University will host an exhibit of artwork by Glasgow artist Jane Ward Kehrt Feb. 7-25 in Campbellsville University’s Art Gallery located at 205 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky. Kehrt’s exhibit will consist of watercolors, acrylics and pencil drawings.

This exhibit is free and open to the public.

Born in Lexington, Ky., Kehrt has been drawing and painting since the age of three, when she would color onthe baseboards of the walls of her family’s living room. Now she has artwork that is in both private and corporate collections across the United States, Russia, Argentina, Ireland and Guatemala.

Kehrt did her undergraduate work at the University of Kentucky in Lexington and did additional work at Southeast Missouri University in Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

A member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen in Berea, Ky., she sells her work from her studio and national juried shows, several of which have been ranked in “Sunshine Artist top 100.”

She is also a member of Kentucky Visual Arts at the Market in Frankfort, Ky. and the Lexington Art League in Lexington. She has studied with published watercolor artist Tony Couch.

She is represented by Collectors Gallery and Artique Galleries in Lexington, the Kentucky Artisan Center in Berea, Gallery on the Square in Franklin, Ky. and Damselfly in Midway, Ky.

Kehrt said, “Watercolor is both a humbling and challenging medium. The feel of paint flowing on wet paper is one of the most exciting parts of painting. A successful painting is when you are intelligent and seasoned enough to see and accept good things happening on the paper and keep them, not correct them.”

Kehrt said, “The world around me is inspiring. Light on subject matter, unique shapes forming more shapes, texture in nature and on man-made objects encourage and inspire me to paint.”

Kehrt has taught drawing and watercolor at Elizabethtown Community College in Elizabethtown, Ky.

Kehrt is teaching a watercolor and acrylic class for adults who have always been interested in art but are just now finding the time to enjoy it. She tutors children in art, drawing and painting and owns Kehrt Studio-Galleries where she sells her work.
