CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.— Jonathan Merritt, faith and culture writer and author of “Green Like God: Unlocking the Divine Plan for Our Planet,” will be the guest speaker at Campbellsville University’s Kentucky Heartland Institute on Public Policy (KHIPP) event, Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 5 p.m. in CU’s Banquet Hall of the Badgett Academic Support Center, located at 110 University Drive, Campbellsville.
Merritt will also speak at Campbellsville University’s weekly chapel service Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. in Ransdell Chapel, located at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville.
Both events are free and open to the public.
The KHIPP event involves a discussion on “Why We Should Be Involved In Creation Care.”
Merritt is founder of the Southern Baptist Environment and Climate Initiative, a national coalition of Christian leaders who care about the creation.
A faith and culture writer, he has over 200 articles published in outlets such as USA Today, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, BeliefNet, Christianity Today, The Huffington Post, and CNN.com.
His book, “Green Like God: Unlocking the Divine Plan for Our Planet,” was called “a must-read for churchgoers” by Publisher’s Weekly.
As a respected Christian voice, Merritt has been interviewed by ABC World News, NPR, PBS’ Religion and Ethics Newsweekly, Politico, Fox News, The New York Times and The Washington Post.
Merritt also serves as editor of QIdeas.org.
He holds a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C., and a Master of Theology from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, Ga.
Merritt resides outside of Atlanta, Ga., where he serves as teaching pastor at Cross Pointe Church.
