CU to feature guest organist, Maria LeRose-Herndon, March 13 in noon organ recital

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Maria LeRose-Herndon of Campbellsville will be presenting a guest noon organ recital on Tuesday, March 13 at 12:20 p.m. in Campbellsville University’s Ransdell Chapel, 401 Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville.

She is the wife of the Rev. William Herndon, pastor of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church on Meader Street in Campbellsville.

She will be performing works by J.S. Bach and William Mathias. The concert is free and open to the public.

LeRose-Herndon completed her Master of Music in Sacred Music with an emphasis in organ as well as a Certificate in Music Theory Pedagogy at the University of Kentucky in 2006. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance in 2004.

She is an organ student of Dr. Schuyler Robinson at UK where she is working toward a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Organ Performance at UK.

She studied with Dr. John Turnbull at Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. during her first two years of undergraduate study. In summer 2004, LeRose-Herndon studied organ in Salzburg, Austria with Bernhard Gfrerer.

While at Converse College, she was honored as a Daniel Music Scholar and received a Music Honors Scholarship. During her undergraduate studies at UK, she was selected twice to represent the keyboard division at the Honors Convocation Recital. She was a 2005, 2007, 2010 and 2011 scholarship winner from the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts.
