Howell presents colloquium on gender differences

Oct. 14, 2011
For Immediate Release

Dr. Susan Howell, Campbellsville University professor of psychology, presented a colloquium on Oct. 6 titled "Being All You Can Be: Gendered Expectations and Gendered Pricetags." The subject explored how to effectively communicate to students and children – males and females -- that both genders can succeed and equalize the cost of success for each. Among the statistics Howell shared were gender differences in achievement motivation showing that while males believe that their success will impress others and help in relationships, females have a set of beliefs that success will hurt others and cost them in relationships.
