Campbellsville University’s new
School of Education building
is getting final touches

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Dean of the Campbellsville University School of Education, Dr. Brenda Priddy, said that the new School of Education building is 95 percent ready for students who will arrive for classes on Monday, Aug. 24.
She and her faculty and staff are moving into new offices as the builders add finishing touches. Priddy said, “this is a milestone in CU’s 100-year tradition of excellence in teacher preparation.”
“It’s hard to believe,” she said, “that we are almost ready for students in the new building right now, when less than a year ago we were involved in a groundbreaking on this site (shown in the top two photos at right).
Priddy sends her compliments out to the contractor and crews who worked all through the year to bring the building to completion.
“We’re really excited that our School of Education students are going to have their own building,” she said. “I think they will be delighted.”
The School of Education faculty had been housed in several different locations across campus and now will be under one roof.
“We have a beautiful facility with larger classrooms, a computer lab with state-of-the-art Smartboard technology, a large conference room as well as faculty and staff offices.
Priddy said anyone from campus or the community will be welcome to stop in for a visit. A formal dedication is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 23, with details to be made public as confirmed. She said that she is proud Jim Achterhof, Director of the Richard D. Van Lunen Foundation, will be in attendance at the ribbon cutting ceremony among others who have been part of making the new building a reality.
Campbellsville University is a private, comprehensive institution located in South Central Kentucky. Founded in 1906, Campbellsville University is affiliated with the Kentucky Baptist Convention and has an enrollment of 2,601 students who represent 93 Kentucky counties, 27 states and 31 foreign nations. Campbellsville University is located 82 miles southwest of Lexington, Ky., and 80 miles southeast of Louisville, Ky. Dr. Michael V. Carter is in his tenth year as president.
