The landmark oak tree outside the Campbellsville University Administration Building looks to be possibly as old as the 105-year-old campus itself. The tree has been given a seating area all around its base which has become an inviting area to sit, visit, study or meditate. A friendship began between the two young students Lauren Moore, center left, and Deanna Yocum, center right, at freshman orientation and they decided to be roommates in one of the Campbellsville University Village residences. Alex Dapkus of Richmond, a freshman baseball player, arrived on the Campbellsville University campus Saturday morning. His mom and dad, Kathy and Paul Dapkus, pictured on either side of him, helped Alex move into the men’s village residence located directly behind the Tiger Baseball stadium where he will play.

Lady Tiger Basketball player Daizah Kimberland, at right, was helped by her Aunt Yohanda Allen, to get moved into Village 4 at Campbellsville University Saturday, Aug. 27. Kimberland is a first cousin of rival Lindsey Wilson College basketball player, and former Adair County High School star, Kalen Kimberland. After the hard work of moving into the men’s village at Campbellsville University, the men above stopped for food provided by the Pleasant Union Baptist Church congregation. Bonnie and Tom Kaninski took a break under the landmark oak tree in front of Stapp Hall after helping their daughter Kaylee move into her new home at Campbellsville University. They made the 10-hour drive from Buffalo NY on Friday and helped their daughter get her student I.D., post office box and other details accomplished. On Saturday morning, when this photo was made, Kaylee was with her CU Bowling team members getting physicals done while her parents waited. The CU freshman found Campbellsville University online by putting her criteria into collegeboard.com, according to her dad, and it matched everything she wanted (math and Spanish majors) with CU.
