CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University (CU) is celebrating three consecutive years of enrollment growth with the latest class of students from Belize, with 15 new Belizean students attending CU this semester.
“Belize remains among our most prolific partners for international recruitment,” Dr. Jason Meriwether, CU’s vice president for enrollment management, said. “The productivity and academic quality of students from Belize City to Belmopan, Dangriga to Caye Caulker, or San Pedro to San Ignacio have fueled great success for Belizean students who enroll at CU!”
Meriwether added, “Students who take advantage of the opportunities at a world-class Christian University will continue to thrive here as we produce nurses, scientists, media experts, and business leaders who will return to Belize prepared to lead in the workforce or as entrepreneurs.”
Jizel Jones, a top academic achiever from Belmopan Comprehensive School, has earned the prestigious presidential ambassador scholarship.
This year’s class of students from Belize marks yet another milestone in the CU’s recruitment efforts in the country.
“I’m very excited to carry on in my major and just see what it’s about and the educational differences,” Jayla Diaz said.
Diaz admitted she was nervous leaving her family behind, but she quickly realized things would work out well at CU.
“Actually, coming to CU and seeing everyone here is like a family and a community, that definitely alleviated all the nerves and the stress I had,” she shared. “I was nervous about feeling isolated, but I feel like the community here is really nice.”
Rowhan Romero shared that, from the first moment he arrived on campus, he has felt the welcoming spirit that sets CU apart.
“I think the first welcoming story was when we actually got here and saw the parade and everybody and the band performing,” he said. “That was a surprise. I don’t think any of us were expecting all of that.”
Jasmine Bailey shared attending college so far away from home was a scary decision for her, and it might be a scary decision for other students from Belize who are considering a university like CU.
“Being so far away from home was a scary decision,” she shared, “but it’s most definitely worth that risk and worth that uncomfortableness in the beginning.”
Campbellsville University is dedicated to expanding its international student body and is excited to include more future applicants from Belize. With January intakes available, we encourage interested students to apply. Applications for the upcoming academic year are now open.
Tanisha Vernon, CU’s regional recruiter for Belize, shared this year’s class of students from Belize represent “a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.”
“What sets them apart is their exceptional academic performance, having graduated from both Government and Private schools across the country,” Vernon said. “Our Tertiary students have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their respective fields, while our Secondary students have consistently excelled in their studies.”
