There are various types of scholarships available for students attending Campbellsville University's Main Campus. Academic scholarships are offered to incoming students who have demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievement in high school or previous collegiate work and on standardized tests.

Church related scholarships are given to student who have been active and demonstrated leadership in their churches.

Various scholarships have been made available by generous contributions from the many friends and alumni of Campbellsville University. These are offered to students who meet the qualifications established by the donors.

Campbellsville University is blessed to offer additional scholarship opportunities made available through our Endowed and Restricted funding sources. These ‘last dollar' scholarships are crafted to support deserving students who meet specific criteria. At Campbellsville University, the Financial Aid Committee reserves the right to expand, reduce or adjust financial aid programs and funds awarded when necessary to meet Federal, state, or institutional regulation or budget changes. If a student receives a scholarship equal to half-tuition or more, he/she may not be eligible for additional institutional assistance.


Merit Scholarships

Merit Scholarships are awarded to incoming freshman that are attending Campbellsville University - Campbellsville campus. This scholarship is based on the cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) at the time of acceptance. Merit scholarships are committed for up to four years, with a cumulative GPA of a minimum 2.0. The Merit Scholarship amounts are as follows:

  • Trustees Merit Scholarship - Up to $16,500
  • Provost Merit Scholarship - Up to $15,500
  • Dean Merit Scholarship - Up to $14,500
  • Founders Merit Scholarship - Up to $13,500

Transfer Scholarship

Transfer Scholarships are awarded to transfer students that are attending Campbellsville University - Campbellsville campus. This scholarship is calculated on the cumulative GPA of all colleges attended. This scholarship can be renewed annually for three years with a required GPA of 2.0 GPA. Awarding of scholarship is as follows:

  • 3.5 - 4.000 GPA - Up to $12,000
  • 2.5 - 3.499 GPA - Up to $10,000
  • 2.0 - 2.499 GPA - Up to $9,000

Presidential Scholarship

Campbellsville University awards eight of the prestigious Presidential Schoalrships to incoming freshmen. This scholarship totals full-tuition, housing and books, and is open to students who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Earned a high school GPA of 3.5 or above
  • Earned a 25 ACT/1200 SAT score, or
  • Earned ranking in the top ten percent of the senior class

The application is due to the university by December 31st of the applicant's high school senior year. Scholarship decisions consider a student's academic record, essay, and interview. Students earning this scholarship are required to fulfill service-learning opportunities throughout their time at Campbellsville University.

Campbellsville University reserves the right to reduce a merit scholarship for a student that receives any type of non-CU scholarship, benefit, outside funding, etc. that is equal to or more than the total cost of tuition. Students using the GI Bill® and receiving VA benefits will not have their scholarship reduced or removed.

KEES Across KY Scholarships

KEES Across Kentucky (Beginning 2021-2022)

All incoming freshman Kentucky residents with a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher will receive a KEES matching award up to $2,000.

  • Renewable to students up to 3 years (8 semesters of eligibility) based upon KEES renewable eligibility of a 2.5 GPA and on track to graduate.

KEES Matching for Transfer Students (Beginning 2021-2022)

All Kentucky residents transferring to Campbellsville University with a 3.0 GPA or higher will receive KEES Matching up to $1500.00

  • Renewable to students up to 3 years (8 semesters of eligibility) based upon KEES renewable eligibility of a 2.5 GPA and on track to graduate.

Valedictorian Scholarship

GOAL:
To recognize commitment to high-performing Kentucky high school graduates and to encourage degree completion within a timely manner by supplementing financial aid applicants' award packages to cover the cost of tuition only, to help eliminate cost as a barrier to degree completion. Housing, textbooks, and fees are not covered.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Scholarship will be granted as an auto-award for Kentucky residents who earn a diploma from a Kentucky high school. No application is necessary. Students who meet admission criteria to enter Campbellsville University will be notified of the scholarship and presented with a certificate in September of their senior year.


Church Related Scholarships

Church Matching

Campbellsville University will match gifts from churches throughout the nation that contribute up to $200 per year toward a student's education costs. Any denomination may participate. Gifts from a church should be made payable to Campbellsville University on behalf of the student. Students are eligible to receive Church Matching funds as they are an enrolled undergraduate student at Campbellsville.

Church Service

Any student whose parent services in a full-time paid Christian ministerial position can receive up to $950 per year. An application is required. Recipients of the Christian Service scholarship are not eligible for Church Matching funds. This scholarship is renewable for three additional years with a minimum of a 2.0 renewal GPA. Students must meet the following requirements: a) first-time freshman, b) have a parent serving in a full-time paid Christian ministerial position, and c) demonstrate financial need based on FAFSA information.

Christian Vocation

Students who have made a public commitment to pursue a Christian vocation may be considered to receive an additional $200 per year. An application is required. This scholarship is renewable for three additional years with a minimum of a 2.0 renewal GPA. Students must meet the following requirements: a) undergraduate student, b) profess a public commitment to a Christian vocation, and c) demonstrate financial need based on FAFSA information.

Kentucky Baptist Scholarship

Scholarships are available each year to students affiliated with a Kentucky Baptist church. Kentucky Baptist students entering Campbellsville University as a full-time freshman are eligible to apply. This scholarship is renewable for three additional years with a minimum 2.0 renewal GPA.

  • Scholarship amount: $1,000
  • Amount to award: 20
  • Deadline: March 15th

Baptist Leadership Award

Students who demonstrate strong leadership skills and active involvement in their local Baptist Church may apply for the Baptist Leadership Award. Each student who applies is evaluated based upon their church commitment, academic achievements, and leadership experience in their local community, school, and church. Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and a letter of recommendation from their pastor. The scholarship is renewable for three additional years so long as the student meets the initial academic requirements.

  • Scholarship amount: Up to $1,500
  • Amount to award: 50
  • Deadline: December 31st

Missionary Kids Scholarship

Students whose parents serve as missionaries with the Southern Baptist International Mission Board are eligible to apply for the Missionary Kids Scholarship. Applicants must be admitted to the University as a full-time student, be eligible for the Missionary School Allowance (Post-Secondary), and submit verifications that their parents serve. The Financial Aid Committee approves all recipients. This scholarship can be renewed for three years provided the student maintains satisfactory academic progress. Upon receipt, the student is not eligible for any more institutional aid.

Performance Grants and Scholarships

Art, Drama, Journalism, Band, & Music

Performance grants and competitive scholarships are available in the areas of art, drama, journalism, band, and music. They are based upon a student's individual skills in these areas. Grants and scholarships are awarded by faculty and staff based upon individual interviews and/or auditions. Award amounts are varied depending on the student's experience and level of skill in each area. Students may contact the Office of Admissions for more information on these opportunities.

Athletic Performance Grants

Athletic performance grants are performance-based and based on a student's demonstrated abilities, leadership, and potential to excel in an NAIA collegiate sport.

  • Performance grants are considered with, but not subject to, program discretion, FAFSA completion, and merit or transfer scholarship earnings.
  • Performance grants are only awarded by athletic head coaches.

Diversity Scholarship Program

Campbellsville University's Diversity Scholarship Program consists of four purpose-driven funds more specifically described below.

An applicant eligible for the Diversity Scholarship Program is an individual who, due to racial or ethnic discrimination or educational or economic disadvantage, needs financial support to pursue an education at Campbellsville University.

Chowning Minority Scholarship Program

  • Applicants must display outstanding leadership potential (academic accomplishment and church involvement will be used to evaluate).
  • Four $500 annual scholarships.

Diversity Scholarship for Christian Ministry

  • Be admitted to the University.
  • Declared a major that will lead to Christian ministry vocation.
  • Submit application, along with statement of Christian faith, & letter from pastor stating that student has made a public commitment to a ministry vocation.

Amount: $2000 a year
Renewal: Renewable (3 years) with a cumulative 2.0 GPA continues their commitment to a Christian ministry vocation.

General Association of Baptists in Kentucky Award

  • Be admitted to the University.
  • Member of a General Association of Baptists in Kentucky affiliated church.
  • Submit application, along with statement of Christian faith and letter from pastor stating that student has been actively involved in their home church

Amount: $2000 a year
Renewal: Renewable (3 years) with cumulative 2.0 GPA

Diversity Scholarship for Teacher Education

  • Be admitted to the University.
  • Seeking admission to or admitted to Teacher Education Program.
  • Submit application to the School of Education.

Amount: $2000 a year
Renewal:

  • 1st renewal (second year) Minimum 2.8 GPA
  • 2nd renewal (third year) Admitted to a Teacher Education Program (CAP 2) and minimum 2.75 GPA
  • 3rd renewal (fourth year) Continue meeting Teacher Education requirements

  • Competitive scholarship awarded to students who have participated in the Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program. Application is required and will be awarded to students based on 3.5 GPA, 25 ACT/1200 SAT, and essay

  • Competitive scholarship awarded to students who have participated in the Kentucky Governor's Scholar of the Arts Program. Awarded to students based on minimum GPA of 3.0 and 25 ACT/1200 SAT and audition

Governor's School for Entrepreneurs Scholarship

  • Participate in Governor's School for Entrepreneurs
  • $2000 annual award
  • Renewable (3 years)
  • Submit documentation of GSE participation to Office of Financial Aid

Distinguished Young Women Scholarship

Students must supply the Office of Admissions with proof of placement in the DYW competition. The scholarship is renewable for up to three years. If the student is eligible for more than one DYW scholarship, the higher of the scholarships will be awarded.

  • Statewide competition winner, or statewide scholastic winner eligible for scholarship up to $3,500 per year
  • Statewide first runner up, or County/regional first runner up eligible for scholarship up to $3,000 per year
  • Statewide first runner up, or County/regional first runner up eligible for scholarship up to $2,500 per year
  • Statewide first runner up, or County/regional first runner up eligible for scholarship up to $2,000 per year

Howell Environmental Science Scholarship

The George and Joan White Howell Environmental Science Scholarship is a $1,000 environmental science scholarship, administered through the Lake Area Foundation, available to a freshman entering Campbellsville University. Another $1,000 is available annually for a freshman student pursuing an environmental science degree who is willing to help with research at Clay Hill Memorial Forest for a minimum of 70 hours per semester during the academic year.

Requirements to apply:

  1. Must be from one of the following counties: Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor, Wayne
  2. Students must select Environmental Science as a Major
  3. High School GPA 3.5. Maintain CU GPA 3.0;
  4. ACT Score of 24 or above on the science portion of the exam;
  5. All students applying shall submit an essay of a minimum 200 words describing interest in the environment and how they hope to utilize their degree to promote Earth Stewardship.

Green River Ministries Homeless Shelter Scholarship

  1. A sophomore or upperclassmen in the School of Social Work, School of Theology, Department of Mass Communications, or College of Business may apply for this scholarship. Internship hours may be applicable pending approval by CU.
  2. Essay and application must be submitted to greenriverministries@gmail.com. Details on essay guidelines found on the application below.
  3. Students may apply each year.
  4. The Green River Ministries committee will review the essays, select the recipients, and notify the Financial Aid Office.

The June Winslow Carter Scholarship

Requirements for the scholarship are as follows:

  1. The student applicant must be a current Major in one of the Human Performance Department's Academic Majors.
  2. The student applicant holds a current cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.5 (i.e., C+) out of a possible 4.0 (i.e., an A average)
  3. The deadline for submitting this student application is by November 1 of the current year.
  4. The student applicant must complete an essay as outlined in the scholarship.

Legacy Alliance Scholarship

The Legacy Alliance Scholarship will be awarded to two incoming freshmen Campbellsville University students each Fall of $1,000, renewable for four years. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA and be the child or grandchild of a Campbellsville University Alumni.
