CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University and community members cut the ribbon for the grand opening of the brand-new Tiger Kroger. This storefront will provide students with essential and convenient products, just a few steps from their dorms.

After a much-anticipated wait, Tiger Kroger, located in the Davenport Student Commons Building on CU’s campus, has officially opened its doors to students and the public. This store will provide students and residents with a convenient place to gather essential items for student life. Community impact and supporting students have been the core of this cooperation between CU and Kroger.

“The Tiger Kroger represents more than a new store. It is a meaningful investment in the future of Campbellsville University and the surrounding community. By expanding access to fresh, affordable food and creating new opportunities for students, we are proud to support both academic success and overall well-being. This partnership reflects our commitment to feeding the human spirit and strengthening the communities we serve,” said Jessica Sharp, head of communications and public affairs for the Kroger Louisville Division.

While at the ribbon cutting, CU President Dr. Joseph Hopkins welcomed the large crowd of students and community members, “This is an exciting day. Today, we get to dedicate a dream that has been active here for some time. Many staff, faculty, and students have been involved in the Tiger Korger project, and now we can celebrate together.”

President of the Kroger Louisville Division, Josh Harpole, spoke: “This is the first Kroger store within a university, and we are very proud of this moment. Today is about more than opening a new store, though. It's about partnership, opportunity, and investing in the future.”

Harpole continued, “This store represents our commitment to making fresh, affordable food more accessible to students, faculty, and the surrounding community. We know that when access to quality food is convenient and affordable, it supports not just health, but academic success.”

CU Student Government Association President, Gabe Maurer, expressed his personal excitement as a student at the availability of essential items just a few steps from his dorm. “As somebody who lives on campus, I think about convenience. Many of our students travel off campus by driving or using the CU shuttle. Now they simply can walk a few steps and get what they need.”

Harpole extended his appreciation to the completion of this historic moment. “By working together with Campbellsville University, we are strengthening local connections, creating jobs, and building something that will have a lasting impact. Tiger Kroger reflects who we are as a company. We are proud to be America's local grocery store, and we are honored to become part of this campus community.”
