CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University, Carver School of Social Work, is now accepting applications for its newly created Doctor of Social Work (DSW) Program. The Program is designed for experienced social work professionals ready to advance their leadership, scholarship, and impact in the field of Social Work.
Dr. Ann Adcock, Doctor of Social Work Program Director and Professor of Social Work, says, “The Carver School of Social Work has long been known as a place where students can come and receive excellent preparation for a social work career. We have seen many students progress through our undergraduate and graduate programs and become well-equipped professionals in a variety of settings.”
Now, Campbellsville University’s Doctor of Social Work (DSW) program will prepare experienced social work professionals to become transformational scholar-practitioners and leaders who integrate Christian values, research, and advanced social work practice.
“The DSW will provide students with the opportunity to acquire highly advanced skills and knowledge that will allow them to be leaders in administration, clinical practice, policy development, higher education and many other areas of our growing field. We are excited about this opportunity for both our program and our students,” continues Adcock.
Students will develop the skills to critically evaluate research and practice environments, address complex individual and systemic challenges, and advance social, economic, racial, and environmental justice through ethical practice, advocacy, and policy engagement.
Designed to be completed over the course of three years, the 42-credit program combines learning with opportunities for meaningful connection and collaboration, including a two-day on-campus orientation at the beginning of the program, online coursework, synchronous learning opportunities designed to enhance engagement and community, Three-to four-day summer residencies following years 1 and 2, virtual options for summer residency participation, and capstone project development and advanced scholarly work.
With an emphasis on trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice, innovation, rigorous scholarly inquiry, and servant leadership, the DSW program prepares graduates to strengthen social work education and practice, develop meaningful interventions, and lead sustainable systemic change.
“Dr. Anne Adcock brings the experience, thoughtful leadership, and commitment to social work education needed to guide our new DSW program,” says Dr. Michelle Tucker, Dean of the Carver School of Social Work. “I am excited for the opportunities she will create for experienced social workers seeking to deepen their practice and expand their impact.”
