As part of the Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky Partners in Prevention Network, Campbellsville University will be one of hundreds of organizations recognizing Child Abuse Prevention Month during April with a pinwheel planting ceremony. The event, planned for Tuesday, April 3 at 1:45 p.m. on Stapp Lawn at Campbellsville University is open to the public.
The nationwide Pinwheels for Prevention® campaign has seen more than 4 million pinwheels distributed throughout the nation since 2008, with Kentucky distributing more than 300,000. Kentucky's total ranks second in the nation. Pinwheels are the national symbol of child abuse prevention and a visible reminder of the happy and healthy childhood all children deserve.
Annually, more than two hundred organizations are involved in Child Abuse Prevention Month activities in Kentucky. Campbellsville has been participating since 2009.
“Our statewide partner network has done an incredible job of engaging local communities in tacking action in support of children and families,” Jill Seyfred, executive director of Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky, said. “The Pinwheels for Prevention® campaign is a great way to recognize Child Abuse Prevention Month and to show people how they can help great childhoods happen and get involved in child abuse prevention.”
