Program Overview

The Intensive English Learning Program (I.E.L.P.) is a 4-week, residential summer program offered through the Center for International Education (CIE). Designed specifically for international students, the program emphasizes the development of English language proficiency, introduces participants to American university-level academic content, and offers immersive experiences in American culture.

Led and coordinated by Dr. Kwang H. Suh, J.D., Ph.D., Distinguished Professor of Political Science/Criminal Justice, Distinguished Senior Scholar, and Director of Asian Studies, the program provides students with a unique opportunity to grow linguistically, academically, and culturally in a supportive and engaging environment.

Admission to the I.E.L.P. is selective. All students must be recommended by Dr. Suh following a thorough review of their application. The program welcomes applicants from China, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea.
