Take Your Next Step To Prepare for a Career in Sports Medicine
Our Sports Medicine program equips you with the knowledge and hands-on experience to help athletes prevent, diagnose, recover from injuries, and more.
Program Overview
Campbellsville University’s Sports Medicine program provides students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to excel in athletic training, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. Through a combination of classroom learning and hands-on clinical experience, students develop a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques. Graduates are prepared for careers supporting athletes and active individuals in a variety of healthcare and sports settings. Our Sports Medicine program has three tracks.
- Fitness Wellness Specialist: This track is a fitness and wellness degree designed for students who want to become personal trainers, strength and conditioning professionals, or any career where they prescribe exercise to individuals. This program is also offered online through CU Online.
- Pre-Athletic Training: This track is designed for students who want to go to graduate school to become athletic trainers. As an Athletic Trainer, they can be employed by high schools, universities, professional teams, or even companies to treat and prevent injuries to their workers and athletes.
- Exercise Science: This track is designed for students who want to go to graduate school to pursue a Master’s degree or higher. Students earning a degree in Exercise Science can apply to Physical Therapy schools, Occupational Therapy schools, Physician Assistant programs, or other professional programs.
“The Human Performance department here at CU created many pathways for me to grow as a better version of myself in all aspects of life. Having studied in a community full of committed professors who are so well motivated to inform the next generation exceeds the standard and displays how much they truly care. The department goes the extra step and reaches out a helping hand to students in a supportive aspect, alike to an extended family. That all being said, my experience over 2,000 miles away from home panned out to be an academic adventure I could’ve never imagined, and if I had the option to I would do it all over again."
