Campbellsville University Theatre Grant Application
Campbellsville University Theatre offers performance grants to talented theatre arts students in recognition of their contributions to department productions.
Students receiving a performance grant are required to register for both Performance/Production and Audition/Design each semester. These courses may be taken for 0 or 1 credit hour and meet Tuesday - Friday from 3:30 - 6:30 PM.
Interested students are encouraged to complete the Theatre Grant Application to be considered for departmental grant opportunities.

The Campbellsville University Department of Theatre is committed to developing skilled, compassionate artists who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to the performing arts and their communities. Rooted in a faith-centered approach, the department emphasizes artistic excellence, personal growth, and professional preparation through a balance of academic study and hands-on experience. Students build the technical skills, creative vision, and ethical foundation needed to succeed on stage, behind the scenes, and beyond. The vision of the department is to inspire and equip artists, educators, and creators who lead with integrity, passion, and a commitment to using theatre and dance to positively impact audiences and communities.
The Campbellsville University Russ Mobley Theatre was named in honor of Russell (Russ)
G. Mobley on Jan. 25, 2011, with an unveiling on April 30 of that year.
Mobley served 34 years at CU as a professor of speech and theatre from 1971 until his retirement in 2005. He directed more than 100 theatre performances, his first being Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Starr Garrett took over as director of the Department of Theatre and Dance in 2005 and has served ever since.
A partnership with Town Hall Productions, an event planning company, was created in 2011 in order to bring community theatre to the local area. In addition to community-based productions, this work includes the development of a youth theatre training program, the Creative Spirit Theatre Academy.
Campbellsville Christian Church donated its seats to the theatre in January 2016, with a dedication being held on March 23, 2016.
Theatre encompasses a rich variety of styles and practices, from dramatic plays and musicals to experimental and immersive performances. Whether your passion lies in acting, stage management, or production, these forms all contribute to a vibrant theatrical experience that educates, entertains, and inspires.

The Theatre, B.A. or B.S. program at Campbellsville University provides a dynamic, hands-on education that blends artistic creativity with practical experience.
