Campbellsville University is excited to offer a summer immersion program geared toward students exploring a future education in healthcare. Beyond the Stethoscope: Exploring the World of Healthcare is designed to host up to 24 students on CU’s main campus in Campbellsville, Kentucky to participate in hands-on experiences designed to cultivate their passion for healthcare.

Participants will:

The program highlights a variety of healthcare career paths, from laboratory services and radiology to medical assisting and nursing. Through partnerships with local healthcare providers, students will have unique opportunities to see these careers in action. Students will have the opportunity to shadow and explore these local healthcare organizations:

Explore your future in healthcare with Campbellsville University!

  • Team-building activities 
  • CPR & First Aid Simulation 
  • Simulation lab experiences- radiography and nursing 
  • Visit from AirEvac- medical helicopter walk-through 
  • EMT demonstrations with practice sessions with ambulance walk-through 
  • Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy skills practice 
  • Field trip to the local hospital
  • Various workshops presented by CU faculty 
  • Patient scenarios

Beyond the Stethoscope is for high school juniors and seniors ages 16-18. 

June 15th-18th, 2026 

Students will be staying on campus Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evening in a CU student dorm.

If you are a current high school student interested in healthcare, you are eligible to participate. This is a very popular program and is limited to a maximum of 24 participants. Applications must be received by April 7th, 2026. 

To apply, please submit the following:

  2. Email all requested attachments (letters of recocomendation, etc.) to nursing@campbellsville.edu 

Once your application is received, it will be reviewed by the BTS panel for selection into the program. If chosen, you will be notified of your acceptance via email. 

The student must commit to the entirety of the program for acceptance. 

The current cost to attent is $225 per student with scholarship options available. All scholarship information will be communicated via email once the application period has closed.

Upon completing Beyond the Stethoscope, you will: 

  • Have clinical skills enhanced through simulation  
  • Engage in hands-on learning of core nursing procedures and activities relevant to medical assisting, phlebotomy, radiography, and emergency medicine.  
  • Experience what it will be like as an allied health or nursing student on the campus of Campbellsville University.  
  • Have opportunities for shadowing in various healthcare settings, classes, and simulations.
