Retired faculty and staff of Campbellsville University are invited to join the newly-created
Campbellsville University's Retired Personnel Association or CU-RPA, designed to provide
“connection, continuity and communication” (3Cs) among all retired faculty and staff
and Campbellsville University. CU-RPA will provide an opportunity for CU retired employees
to continue being a part of the CU family, to get together socially for luncheons
and regular meetings and to be involved in CU activities.
Campbellsville University is a comprehensive, Christian institution that offers non-credit
technical programs, along with certificates, associates, undergraduate and graduate
programs. The university is dedicated to academic excellence solidly grounded in the
liberal arts that fosters personal growth, integrity and professional preparation
within a caring environment. The university prepares students as Christian servant
leaders for life-long learning, continued scholarship by linking discovery research
to knowledge at the doctoral level, and active participation in a diverse, global
society.

The vision of CU-RPA is to encourage retired faculty and staff to remain actively
engaged, as much as desired, in the life of Campbellsville University, in academic,
educational, scholarly and cultural activities on campus and in the community.
The mission of CU-RPAsupports the Campbellsville University mission to model servant leadership and effective
stewardship of time, talents and scholarship. Its mission is to 1) celebrate the role
of retired faculty and staff for their many years of service to higher education,
to the many students and to the University, 2) to advocate for their special concerns
and interests of its members and 3) to provide opportunities for the members to continue
participating in the university’s activities as desired.
Retired Personnel Association History
In January of 2023, Dr. Joseph Hopkins, president of Campbellsville University, appointed
a founding committee to oversee the development of an organization for retired Campbellsvile
University faculty and staff. The committee members met several times on campus during
the spring semester and early summer of 2023 to develop drafts of key documents such
as By-Laws and Membership Forms. The founding committee members were supported at
meetings and electronically by the following administration of Campbellsville University:
Dr. Carolyn Garrison, Retired School of Education Faculty (Retired December 2020)
Joan McKinney, Retired Director of Campbellsville University Communications (Retired February 2023)
CU-RPA By-Laws were developed, reviewed and revised several times by the founding
committee during the spring of 2023. The current edition represents discussion and
decisions about the by-laws at those meetings and will be reviewed and approved by
the CU-RPA membership. There are 11 By-Laws for the organization:

According to the CU-RPA By-Law VIII, there will be a Board of Directors, initially
consisting of the officers. The Officers of the Association shall consist of:

Secretary
Treasurer
Past President
The Board/officers shall be elected by the membership during the last meeting of the
fiscal year which is July through June each year. Officers may succeed themselves.
During the founding year, officers may be volunteers.

By-Law VII: Meetings of the Association
CU-RPA will initially meet at least once each term and once in the summer.
Other meetings may be set by the Board of Directors/Officers as desired. Some meetings
may be virtual to accommodate members who live a distance from the university. These
may include fall and spring full membership meetings plus committee meetings. All
business, committee and special meetings will be conducted according to Robert’s Rules
of Order, latest edition.
CU-RPA By-Law III All officially retired CU employees, shall be considered eligible for membership.
Membership shall be granted on payment of dues. Retiree membership includes non-CU
spouses/partners, including those of deceased retired faculty and staff. Upon approval,
membership may be granted for faculty/staff and others who have served CU many years
but do not meet the official retirement criteria. Only official members will have
voting rights at business meetings. Members during the first year of the CURPA, July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024, will
be considered founding members.
CU-RPA By-Law IV The Board of Directors shall propose annual membership dues, ratified by the general
membership. The Board also has the option of establishing life-time membership dues.
CU-RPA has no revenue source other than membership dues. Once the board and officers
are in place, the CU-RPA budget may be developed. Annual dues are payable July 1 and due no later than September 1. Delinquent members
shall be denied voting privileges. The founding committee has set the dues at $15.00
annually and includes non-CU employed spouses/partners. Members may also contribute toward a CU-RPA Scholarship fund which can be awarded
based on criteria to be established by the membership. Please include separate checks
for membership/T-shirts and for scholarship contributions.

We invite you to consider contributing to the CU-RPA Scholarship Fund, which has been
established through a designated account in Campbellsville University's Development
Office. Once the membership begins meeting, the name of the scholarship—as well as
the awarding frequency and criteria - will be determined.
