CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University Technology Training Center is offering two allied health programs at the Brockman Center in Hodgenville.
Campbellsville University Technology Training Center is also offering a course in phlebotomy that begins Thursday, Nov. 10 and runs through Dec. 22. The class will be taught Monday and Thursdays from 10 a.m. until noon at the Brockman Center.
A phlebotomist is a medical professional who draws blood from patients for various lab tests and procedures. Students who enter the phlebotomy training are required to have a high school degree or GED and be at least 18 years of age. Those taking the class must have proof of current immunizations and a TB skin test and be able to complete a criminal background check and pass a drug screen.
Students interested in going into the field of nursing can earn their State Registered Nurse Aide (SRNA) certification in just 75 hours including 16 clinical hours. This class has been going on since September and will end Dec. 15. Another one will be offered in the spring.
Many nursing schools require SRNA before applying for LPN or RN programs. Upon completion of the SRNA program, a nurse aide will have a working knowledge of the physiological, psychological and sociological impact of institutionalization on the nursing facility resident. This space is limited to 15 students per class. SRNA clinical hours will be completed at the new Sunrise Manor in Hodgenville.
This class consists of 25 classroom hours and 100 clinical hours. Once the student passes the class, he or she is able to sit for the national exam offered through the National Center for Competency Testing.
