CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Suzanne Renfrow of Morgantown, Ky. will display wood-fired functional pots in the first art show of the spring 2011 semester at Campbellsville University. It is titled “Suzanne Renfrow - Fifteen Years in Clay.”
Her work is on exhibit from Jan. 19 to Feb. 4 in the Art Gallery at 205 University Drive, Campbellsville. An opening reception for her will be Thursday, Jan. 27 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gallery.
Everyone is invited to the free exhibit and reception.
Renfrow will be on campus Jan. 27 all day and will lecture in assistant professor of art Davie Reneau's ceramic classes and will do a short slide talk.
Renfrow studied with Tom and Ginny Marsh at the University of Louisville and received her degree at Western Kentucky University.
In an article in the Bowling Green Daily News with Ronnie Jaggers, Renfrow said, “I didn't know I would love wood firing this much, but I do. I used to use a lot of glaze and other effects to achieve a natural look. I've found that wood firing with the licking flames and ash, the atmosphere it creates, accomplishes all that I wanted. It's the beauty of it that I love - the process of it.”
