CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Aaron Boaz, violinist, and Krista Wallace-Boaz, pianist, will perform at Campbellsville University on Monday, Oct. 24, at 8 p.m. in The Gheens Recital Hall in the Gosser Fine Arts Center at 210 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.
Their program will consist of works by Franck, Sarasate, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven and Ewazen.
Dr. Reese Land, associate professor of music/trumpet, will join the duo for a performance of the Ewazen “Trio” for violin, trumpet and piano.
The concert is free and open to the public.
Aaron Boaz began violin study at age four. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Louisville and a Master of Music in Violin Performance from Northwestern University.
Boaz has presented numerous solo recitals and collaborated with other artists throughout the United States. He made his European debut as a guest of the Belgian Grand Consulate, and has performed in Ireland, England, Hungary, Germany, Czech Republic and Slovakia and a sold-out performance in Vienna, Austria. Primarily a classical violinist,
Boaz has also appeared with the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band and was recognized by the Grand Ole Opry at age nine.
He can be heard on StarDog Records and is a recipient of the Ora May Welsh Young Violinist Award.
Boaz serves as sponsor and director of the Boaz Performance Academy in Floyds Knobs, Ind., the Music Performance Academy in Louisville, Ky., author of the Fiddle Steps Bluegrass Violin Method, director of thePracticePro.com, music director to the Louisville Civic Orchestra and adjunct professor of violin to Bellarmine University.
Dr. Krista Wallace-Boaz is a native of Somerset, Ky., and holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Louisville, a Master's of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Northwestern University and a Doctor of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Northwestern University.
Wallace-Boaz also holds three certificates from the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg, Russia and has been heard on the national radio broadcast of the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series.
She recently had the privilege of performing a series of concerts as a guest of the Belgian Grand Consulate, and has appeared in concerts across the United States as well as England and the Netherlands. In March 2010 she made her Carnegie Hall debut with the newly formed Grawemeyer Chamber Players.
Wallace-Boaz serves as associate professor of piano for the University of Louisville, School of Music, New Music Reviewer to Clavier Magazine and Pianist to the Trio bel Canto.
Land has served at Campbellsville University since 2007.
He is an active chamber performer in the central Kentucky region and is often found playing in various ensembles in the area like theLouisville Bach Society, the Evansville Philharmonic, and most notably the Brass Company, a professional brass quintet.
He received his Bachelor's Degree in Music from Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, N.C. in 1994, his Master of Music from the University of Louisville in 2002, and his Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, Ill. in 2007. All of his degrees are in trumpet performance.
Land is an honorary member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, amember of the International Trumpet Guild, and serves annually as a music instructor on the staff of the Lions Club Camp Crescendo in Lebanon Junction, Ky.
