CU announces master of arts in organizational leadership

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University has announced a new master's degree, master of arts in organizational leadership (MAOL), with a total of 16 master's degrees now being offered by the university.

“The School of Business and Economics at Campbellsville University is proud to offer a new degree,” Dr. Pat Cowherd, dean of the School of Business and Economics, said.

She said the MAOL will be offered through existing course delivery channels (online and onsite at the Louisville Education Center). The MAOL will be a 30-hour graduate program that will focus on the development of Christian leaders.

Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of Campbellsville University, said, “Campbellsville University is committed to helping prepare Christian servant leaders. This master's degree is designed to help provide such leadership training for emerging leaders of a variety of organizations in the business, civic and nonprofit sectors.

“This is a another example of the approach CU is taking to address those higher educational needs that have been identified in the Louisville metro area as well as across the state and nation.”

The MAOL will teach students key organizational leadership elements such as: ethics, motivation, creativity, vision, strategic planning, teamwork, group development, technology, customer service and organizational development.

She said the primary target group of students for the MAOL is individuals with a bachelor's degree who will be interested in pursuing graduate study in order to become better leaders within businesses or any other type of organization.

Cowherd said the degree will allow Campbellsville University and the School of Business and Economics to fully utilize the existing faculty pool and existing facilities.

She said the new program will utilize faculty from other disciplines (i.e. Christian Studies) within the university.

“Campbellsville University and the School of Business and Economics are excited about the opportunity to expand our outreach to students who are looking for advancement in their organizations but do not want to pursue a MBA,” Cowherd said.

Dr. Frank Cheatham, vice president for academic affairs, said, “I am happy that the School of Business and Economics at Campbellsville University is offering a solid option to the MBA. The new master's in organizational leadership will provide a strong focus on ethics, leadership and people skills. The School of Business and Economics is committed to assisting busy adults reach their goal of being better prepared for today's challenges in the workforce.”

Other master's degrees offered at CU include: master of arts in social science; master of arts in teaching English to speakers of other languages; master of business administration; master of arts in education; master of arts in special education; Rank I;

Master of arts in music; master of music in church music; master of music in conducting; master of music in music education; master of music in performance; master of music in piano pedagogy;

Master of science in counseling; master of social work; and master of theology.
