Students from Campbellsville University joined members of the Columbia Rotary Club Saturday, April 10, 2010, to work on the water ram pump being installed at Taylor County's historic Homeplace on Green River. The pump and associated piping was funded by a $1,000 grant from the Rotary International Foundation and contributions from the Green, Taylor and Columbia Rotary clubs. Water ram pumps use no electricity, and are powered only by the running water of streams. The pump being installed at Homeplace, is designed to move water up to 150′ vertically over several hundred yards. Homeplace, located at 6048 New Columbia RD, Campbellsville, KY, is a tri-county operated historic farm between Campbellsville and Columbia that is being restored to preserve the agricultural heritage of the area.
