CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University senior, Natalie Olp, will be showcasing her artwork April 2-10, in the Art Gallery, located on the campus of Campbellsville University at 205 University Drive, Campbellsville.

A closing reception will take place Tuesday, April 10 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The exhibit is open on Mondays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.; and on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“I don't create my artwork with a grand purpose or with a deeper meaning in mind,” the Christian County High School graduate, said. “I create art for art's sake and for my sheer love of creating. Ever since I can remember I have always felt a passion, a sort of need, to make art.”

Olp, originally from Hopkinsville, said, “I work in a variety of mediums including graphite, colored pencil, oil, acrylic, and watercolor paint and clay.”

Olp will bring drawings, paintings, ceramics, and sculptures to the exhibit.

“I love to create pieces that portray my interpretation of a subject in that realistic representational style, often times things I see on a day-to-day basis,” Olp said.

Her past exhibits include the Christian County District Art Show in 2008, and the Campbellsville University Student Juried Art Show in both 2010 and 2011.

“It's through the guidance and encouragement of many friends, family members and mentors that I have been able to reach the point I am today,” Olp said. “My parents have supported me tremendously in my artwork starting when my mother helped me do my first oil painting in 1998. Also, I received tons of support from my elementary and high school art teachers.”
