CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY MASS COMMUNICATION
STUDENTS TO INTERVIEW KOREAN VETERANS
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Though the Korean War played a significant role in shaping the world as it is today, it has been dubbed by some as the “Forgotten” or “Unknown” war.
Campbellsville University and Taylor County have not forgotten.
Students at Campbellsville University would like to honor those who served in the war by allowing them to share their stories. The university is putting together another chapter of the “We Were Soldiers” series and students need the names of Korean War veterans who are current or former residents of Taylor County.
The first book in the series gave World War II veterans in Taylor County an opportunity to tell their stories.
Mass Communications students from the university will be interviewing Korean veterans asking them to share their experiences during their time of service.
The students would also like to ask the veterans they interview provide any photos they may have of their service during Korea. Photos will be scanned and then returned to the veterans unharmed.
Students would like to take photographs of the veterans as well.
Plans are also in the works to produce a video featuring the interviews with the veterans in order to complement the book. All participants interviewed will receive a complementary copy of the book and video.
Copies of the video, as well as the book, will be donated to the local libraries and Historical Society. Additional copies of the book will be available for sale at a price yet to be determined.
This book, as well as the first, is funded by a grant from the WEL (Writing, Engagement, Learning) program at Campbellsville University.
Plans are to unveil the finished project on the Fourth of July. In order to meet that deadline students need names of veterans and contact information no later than March 1.
