European film celebrity to visit Campbellsville University in April

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.— Rajko Grlić, a European film celebrity, will visit Campbellsville University in early April. Grlić will show films and give an artist lecture to the graphic design, photography and art history students.

“Grlić is the most famous and the most successful Croatian filmmaker ever,” Dejan Mraović, assistant professor of graphic design at CU and former student of Grlić, said.

Last year his movie “Just Between Us” got awarded for the best movie, and for the best male actor in the New York Film Festival in New York City. The same movie won several awards in the Karlovy Vary Festival in Czechia.

His previous movies won, or were nominated for, awards at these prestigious world festivals: Cannes, Karlovy Vary, New York, Tokyo, Sankt Peterburg, Valencia, San Sebastian and Pula.

As director and scriptwriter, Grlić has worked on 11 theatrical features. These films were shown in cinemas across five continents. He has worked on five feature films as scriptwriter and on five as producer.

Grlić graduated from the FAMU Film Academy in Prague, Czechia. He is an Eminent Scholar of Film at Ohio University, located in Athens, Ohio and Artistic Director of Motovun Film Festival, Croatia.
