CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TO FEATURE
HAYWOOD RINER, ASSOCIATE PASTOR OF
ELK HORN BAPTIST CHURCH, FEB. 3

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Haywood Riner, associate pastor of Elk Horn Baptist Church and former assistant Campbellsville University football coach, is scheduled to speak at Campbellsville University's chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3 in the Ransdell Chapel at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville.
The event is free and open to the public.
Riner has served as associate pastor at Elk Horn Baptist Church since 2008. He has served as “supply” and interim pastor at numerous churches in central Kentucky.
He was assistant football coach at CU from 1987 to 2007 and also worked in student development at CU in 1986-87.
Riner graduated from Bridgewater College in 1973 with a bachelor of arts degree in health and physical education. During his four years at Bridgewater College, Riner worked as the summer youth director at Northminster Baptist Church. In 1974, Riner furthered his education at James Madison University earning a master of science degree in health and physical education.
After completing his master's degree, Riner taught and coached at Hermitage Middle School from 1975 to 1976. A year later, Riner transitioned from a teacher into the program coordinator for the Boys Homes of North Carolina, a position he held until 1978.
In 1978, Riner facilitated the Glen Dale Baptist Children's Home for eight years as the activities director.
Riner was honored with College Coach of the Year from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in 1997. Two years later, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletic American Football Coaches Association recognized Riner as Assistant Football Coach of the Year.
Riner has also published a number of articles pertaining to sports, which include: “Angle Blocking in an Option Offense” American Football Coaches Proceedings Manual, January 2001, “ Success Oriented Games” Church Recreation Magazine April, May and June 1988 and “Planning Recreation For a Children's Home” in Church Recreation Magazine April, May and June 1986.
Riner is originally from Virginia but resides in Campbellsville along with his wife, Dixie Blair Riner. They have two adult children, Corrie Riner Dye, a 1999 graduate of Campbellsville University, and Nathan, who also took classes at CU.
Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through of a variety of informative speakers and presentations.
All chapels are open to the public free of charge and are televised live on WLCU-TV-4 (Comcast Cable channel 10) and are streamed live on the Internet.
