CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Campbellsville University School of Theology will be hosting its annual Holy Week Lecture Monday, March 29.
The public is invited to hear Dr. John Hurtgen, dean of the School of Theology, who will discuss “The Blood of the Lamb in the book of Revelation.”
Hurtgen's lecture will be from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Banquet Hall of the Badgett Academic Support Center at 110 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.
Hurtgen has served at Campbellsville University as dean since July 2004. He has worked at CU as a professor since 1990.
He has a Ph.D. in New Testament language, literature and theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville in 1990. He received a master of divinity degree in pastoral ministries/Biblical studies, also from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, in 1985. He received a bachelor of arts degree in English language and literature in 1981 from the University of Louisville.
He has also taught at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Hurtgen has served as interim minister of music/teaching pastor at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Lebanon, Ky., minister of singles at Shively Baptist Church and minister of youth and music at Our Savior Baptist Church, and he has conducted revivals, Bible studies, January Bible studies and served as pulpit supply for churches throughout Kentucky.
He has published several works and also led various presentations.
He belongs to the National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion and Society of Biblical Literature.
He is married to Pam Arnold Hurtgen, who is a registered nurse. They have three sons, Eric, Joseph and Peter Hurtgen.
