Sculptor Chris Radus of Barren County to exhibit artwork at Campbellsville University

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Campbellsville University Art Department will present sculptor, Chris Radus, of Lucas, Ky., Jan. 28-Feb. 15 in the Pence-Chowning Art Gallery at 205 University Drive, Campbellsville.

Radus works primarily with recycled materials including metal, glass, stone, paper and wood. Davie Reneau, assistant professor of art, said his work is the first official sculpture and assemblage show ever scheduled at CU.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Radus is originally from suburban Pittsburgh where he studied photography at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Penn. He began exhibiting his work in 1995 at the Kentucky State Fair and received a second place ribbon. His works are in the collections of Western Kentucky University, the Baker Arboretum in Bowling Green, Ky. and Western Kentucky Botanical Garden in Owensboro, Ky.

Radus said, “I make what interests me. Finding the right materials is the first step in my process. I feel that every piece of material has art in it. My job as an artist is to decide what method will best release the art.”

He has received first place amateur sculpture and second place professional sculpture both at U.S. Bank Juried Exhibition, Kentucky Museum, Bowling Green, Ky.; second place in large folk art at the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville and third place professional sculpture in the U.S. Bank Celebration of the Arts 2012.

Radus is a regional exhibitor. His exhibits in Kentucky include: Kentucky State Fair in Louisville; Kentucky. Museum, Houchen's Gallery, Capitol Arts Center, International Year of the Mask, Memphis Marsha's Gallery and Gallery 916, both in Bowling Green; Stone Haven Gallery in Lucas; Living Arts and Science Center in Lexington; Art Guide of the Barren Members Exhibition in Glasgow and others. He as also attends juried exhibitions.
