‘Star Search’ winner Sanders entertains students as Welcome Week begins

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville University students began rolling into campus Saturday, and will continue tomorrow, as the fall semester gets under way.

Classes begin Monday, Aug. 29 at 5:15 p.m. with regular day classes beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 8 a.m.

CBS' “Star Search” winner for 2004, comedian Horace H.B Sanders entertained students for the first activity during Welcome Week. After his performance Saturday night in Ransdell Chapel, a watermelon fest was held outside the chapel in the amphitheater.

Andrew Ward, director of student activities, is offering a game, the “Welcome Week Trading Card Challenge,” in which students collect “trading cards” at each of the events.

The first six people to collect the whole Welcome Week set or Freshmen Week, which is Sept. 5-11, set will win a $20 Visa gift card. The first two people to collect both sets will win a $40 Visa gift card.

In addition to collecting cards at the events, watch out for cards randomly placed in a variety of locations throughout the contest.

Freshmen will attend FIRST CLASS activities and a service of dedication Sunday. Activities are listed at campbellsville.edu/welcomeweek where full rules for the trading card challenge.
