Program Highlights

Concentrations

The European Studies concentration allows students to explore the political, cultural, historical, and economic development of Europe from a global perspective. Through interdisciplinary coursework in areas such as European history, international relations, literature, and foreign language, students gain a deeper understanding of the forces shaping both modern and historical Europe. This concentration is ideal for those interested in international diplomacy, global business, European policy, or graduate studies focused on the region.

The Global Culture Studies concentration examines the rich diversity of human cultures and how they shape, and are shaped by, global forces. Students explore topics such as cultural identity, religion, art, language, and social norms across regions and societies. Drawing from disciplines like anthropology, sociology, and the arts, this concentration prepares students to navigate and contribute to a multicultural world, ideal for careers in international education, cultural outreach, global media, and community development.

The Intercultural Mission Studies concentration prepares students to engage in cross-cultural ministry and service with sensitivity, purpose, and a global mindset. Rooted in theological understanding and cultural awareness, students explore topics such as world religions, missiology, intercultural communication, and global ethics. This concentration equips future missionaries, ministry leaders, and nonprofit workers to serve effectively and compassionately in international and multicultural settings.

The Latin American Studies concentration offers students an in-depth look at the history, politics, cultures, and societies of Latin America. Through interdisciplinary courses in areas such as Latin American history, literature, economics, and political science—along with Spanish language study—students gain valuable insights into one of the world’s most dynamic regions. This concentration is ideal for those interested in international development, diplomacy, education, or work with Latin American communities at home and abroad.

The TESL Studies concentration prepares students to teach English to speakers of other languages in both domestic and international settings. Through coursework in linguistics, second language acquisition, grammar, and instructional methods, students gain the tools to effectively support English language learners. This concentration is ideal for those pursuing careers in education, international missions, or community outreach, and provides a strong foundation for TESL/TEFL certification or graduate study in applied linguistics or education.
