M.Ed. Montessori Teacher Education Overview
Earning Campbellsville University's Montessori gives you the chance to develop the skills for education and classroom leadership while studying the foundations of the Montessori philosophy. You will then learn how to apply that philosophy toward educating students through self-expression, collaboration and discovery. The program is deeply rooted in Christian values and ethics that you will be able to integrate into your teachings.
The Montessori training is perfect if you are a Montessori-credentialed educator working with students or if you work with students in a non-educational capacity. The program allows you to deepen your knowledge of the educational philosophy to meet your job's demands. A teaching certification is not required for admission into the program.
The hybrid program includes a four-week summer institute at Campbellsville's main campus in Campbellsville, Kentucky. Through the online portion of the degree, you will learn the history, theory, philosophical underpinnings and educational foundations of the Montessori approach to early childhood education. In addition, you'll explore the foundations of special education while focusing on inclusive early childhood practices. You will also examine advanced child development, special topics in early childhood education, the various research methods and procedures related to education and the global perspectives in early childhood.
Additionally, you will complete four practicum courses that take place within a Montessori classroom under the supervision of a teacher and university supervisor. The practicums emphasize developing observation, assessment, classroom management and teaching skills, parent communication and lesson development and implementation.
The professors for our Montessori program all have real-world Montessori education experience. The degree is accredited by Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

Course Map
The Master of Education in Montessori Education (M.Ed. - ME) prepares candidates who have completed a bachelor degree to earn an early childhood teaching certificate that is recognized by Montessori schools across the U.S. and internationally. The online Montessori training program includes 36 to 42 credit hours and takes just over a year to complete. The full-time degree includes a four-week summer institute on Campbellsville's main campus.
The M.Ed. - ME consists of 36-42 graduate credits plus written and oral examinations and a professional portfolio. The coursework includes a professional education core of 9-15 credits designed to broaden candidate's knowledge of research, current trends in early childhood, and best practices in inclusive education. The Montessori Core consists of 21 credits of Montessori philosophy, curriculum and methods, observation, classroom management, and leadership coursework. An additional 6 credits is earned in a Montessori practicum consisting of 550 hours completed in a continuous nine-month segment.

Admissions Requirements
In order to apply to Campbellsville University's accredited online Montessori training, prospective students must submit or complete the following:
- Complete the application
- Official college transcripts with a complete record of all courses attempted from each college or university attended
- Three (3) professional recommendations
- Criminal background check
- If GPA is lower than 2.75, GRE and/or interview may be required
Costs & Financial Aid
The Montessori degree online costs $299 per credit hour. In order to help students afford their education, Campbellsville University's staff is available to work with students to discover available financial aid options.

There are numerous options available, and not all financial aid is based on need. Transfer Credits A maximum of 12 credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university can be transferred into this program. The goal of this program is to equip students with advanced skills and knowledge to foster education leadership. The program will give students the competency and ability to create and maintain a competitive edge in today's rapidly changing and high demanding early childhood education environment. The students will learn how to apply the approaches to educate children through self-expression, collaboration, and discovery.
Master of Education program is partnered with Tsing Holding Zijing Education, who is responsible for student recruiting and management. The courses are taught in the combination between Campbellsville University professors and Chinese professors. The 18-month program consists of online studies, special seminars and workshops operated by Zijing, and group discussions. Students will learn the history, theory, philosophical underpinnings and educational foundations of early childhood education approaches, including Montessori. Students will also examine advanced child development, psychological foundations, assessment, working with families, special topics in early childhood education, supporting children with special needs, and various research methods and procedures related to education and the global perspectives in early childhood.
