Child Welfare Preparation (CW Prep) BSW Graduate Karla Zapata
Karla Zapata is Carver School's most recent CW Prep Graduate. Karla graduated with
her BSW in August 2024 and starts working in Cumberland County as a Child Protection
Services worker on October 1st! We are so proud of you, Karla!
Here is what Karla has to say about her experience with CW Prep:
"I knew what God was calling me to do and I knew that my road to becoming a social
worker was not going to be easy. My favorite professor told me about CW Prep and there
were so many benefits to the program! I knew however, that I wanted to start my journey
as a Child Protective Worker and fortunately for me, CW Prep opened the doors for
me to do so. I can tell you that my experience was not an easy one but it was a gratifying
experience, one that I would do again if I needed to. I had what seemed like road
blocks preventing me from doing what it is I knew I was meant to do, but even then
I had so much support from my family, CU professors, and from CW Prep. They gave me
an opportunity to do more and succeed, and I’m thankful to say that I made it, I’m
a social worker! I am proud to say that my journey is officially starting with DCBS.
I will be a CPS worker in the Cumberland Region!”
