Academic Resources

Campbellsville University’s Center for Education Abroad offers students exciting opportunities to broaden their academic and cultural horizons through study abroad programs. Designed to enrich your education with global perspectives and real-world experiences, these programs allow you to grow personally and academically while deepening your understanding of God’s world. Whether you’re interested in short-term trips or semester-long exchanges, the Center supports your journey toward becoming a globally-minded servant-leader.

All students must complete one semester of foreign language study to fulfill General Education Requirements. Native language courses are not eligible for credit. Instead, students are encouraged to learn a new language to enhance their global perspective. Transfer credit requests for modern language courses taken elsewhere can be submitted to the Humanities Division for evaluation.

Students with prior knowledge of Spanish or French, whether from previous study or life experience, are required to take a placement test before enrolling in language courses. The test assesses oral, written, reading, and listening skills to accurately determine the appropriate course level for registration.

To earn a Bachelor of Arts degree, students must complete a minimum of twelve credit hours in modern language courses. This requirement can be met by completing four three-credit courses in a single language or two three-credit courses in each of two different languages. Please note that foreign culture courses numbered 101 do not count toward this language requirement.
