Journal of Advances in Education
The Journal of Advances in Education highlights timely and thought-provoking contributions that reflect the evolving landscape of educational research and practice. Dedicated to advancing scholarship in the field, the journal features empirical studies, action research conducted by graduate students, book reviews, and thought pieces from experienced scholars. Articles represent a range of methodologies, including quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods, and are grounded in relevant literature and meaningful findings. Together, these works aim to inform, challenge, and inspire ongoing conversations in education.

The journal will be published semiannually.
The Journal of Advances in Education gives priority to submissions detailing empirical research projects and book reviews. Consideration will also be given to action research submissions from graduate students and thought pieces from respected scholars. Research can be quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods of sound design. All research must be accompanied by a review of current and relevant literature as well as contain applicable findings. The audience for the journal includes current and pre-service teachers, school administrators, higher education faculty and administrators, and other scholars. Submissions are vetted by the editor to verify that submission guidelines are met. This is followed by a two-person double anonymous peer review using a list of standards. Both reviewers must conclude that all standards are met before a submission is accepted. The journal does not use AI in peer review or editing processes with the exception of grammar checking.

- Average time to be notified if submission guidelines were met (goal is < one week): 3 days
- Average time to be notified if submission is accepted for publication (goal is < one month): 18 days
Open Access Statement...This is an open-access journal, which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.
Licensing...All articles published in The Primary Education Journal distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY), which allows for immediate free access to the work and permits any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full texts of articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software or use them for any other lawful purpose even commercially, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author, provided the original work is properly cited. Now Accepting Submissions
We invite submissions for the Journal of Advances in Education. We welcome empirical research, action research from graduate students, book reviews, and thought pieces from experienced scholars.
Please submit one Microsoft Word file (.doc or .docx) to jae@campbellsville.edu containing all three components:
Include the following:
- Title of the submission
- Author name(s) and university affiliation(s) as they should appear in publication (include desired order)
- Primary contact’s email address
- Disclosure if the submission has been previously published or is under review elsewhere
- Brief note on any redactions or edits made to preserve anonymity in the body (e.g., “<Author>” used in place of name)
Include the following:
- Title of the submission
- 100–150 words
- 3–5 keywords
Note:
- Book reviews: Include an APA citation of the book instead of an abstract
- Thought pieces: No abstract required
- Must be completely anonymous (no identifying information)
- Follow APA 7th edition style
- Title appears at the top of the first page
- Graphics must be clear and limited in number.
- Include a brief description in red font below each graphic to assist screen readers (this won’t count toward word count)
- Avoid footnotes when possible
Length Guidelines:
- Research studies: up to 10,000 words (excluding references)
- Book reviews: up to 750 words
- Thought pieces: up to 1,000 words
- Submissions must adhere to the Responsible Research Publication: International Standards for Authors.
- Grammarly is used for plagiarism screening.
- All authors and contributers must be credited appropriately.
- Authors shall declare any conflicts of interest.
- Multiple or redundant publication is not allowed.
- Authors may use artificial intelligence–based tools for limited editorial purposes, such as improving grammar. AI tools must not be used to generate original scholarly content. Authors are responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all submitted work and must disclose any use of AI tools in the manuscript. Grammaryly is used for AI screening.
- There are no submission, publication, or other fees.
Review and Publication Timeline
- You will be notified within 1 week if your submission meets formatting requirements.
- A decision on publication will be made within 1 month. Feedback will be provided regarding submissions that are not accepted.
- Unless otherwise specified, accepted submissions will be published the May or November following their acceptance, whichever comes first.
