Dr. Lisa Rausch Fulks came to Campbellsville University in the Fall of 2005 as an adjunct at the beginning of the Master of Arts in Special Education online program. She became full time faculty in that program in 2013 and serves Campbellsville as a professor in both special education and education. Lisa worked in the Jefferson County Public School System for 27 years as an educator. She was a classroom teacher working primarily in collaboration units with special education students as the regular education teacher, served as an instructional coach and was an acting principal for 3 schools as the need arose. She continues to serve Jefferson County Public Schools as needs arise providing math interventions, working with teachers and schools helping them implement the RTI portion of their MTSS programs, and providing accommodations and modifications for state testing. During Lisa’s tenure in JCPS, Lisa served on the leadership team for the three schools she worked in and was a literacy and math lead for over 10 years. She served on the Kentucky Education Commissioners Teachers Forum working with Commissioner Gene Wilhoit after receiving the WHAS -PNC Bank Excel Award and Ashland Oil Teacher Achievement Award being named teacher of the year for the region in elementary schools. Lisa assisted KDE in trainings for the DWOK program throughout the state, produced KET trainings on differentiated assessments, while working on the state social studies committee writing assessment items for the state CATS assessment. Lisa served on the arbitration board for teacher discipline formed as a joint project between JCPS and JCTA. She served as a JCTA board member for 12 years and was an NEA and KEA delegate for 10 of those years. In addition, Lisa served on the Kenwood PTA board for 10 years, serving as Vice President for 2 of those years. Lisa served as the 15th District PTA grant writer for 3 years. Lisa wrote the grant for the Kenwood Kubs Family Resource Center and served as the Advisory Council Chair for 7 years. Lisa’s research area is school law, special education, and MTSS/RTI. Lisa stays actively involved with these areas through serving on national, regional, state, and local PBIS committees, serving on the LDA (Learning Disabilities of America) Kentucky board as acting secretary, serving on the Kentucky IHE state special education consortium, and serving on the KEEP Kentucky State Leadership Team. Lisa serves on the Literacy/Dyslexia Affinity Group for CEEDAR (Collaboration for Effective Educator Development, Accountability and Reform) when active. Lisa’s most current research involves interventions and visual challenges on the academic side of RTI, as well as she is working on a research project involving behavior interventions, EBD and Trauma/ SEL.
