Clinical Experience
At Campbellsville University’s School of Chiropractic, clinical experience is a cornerstone of your education. Through hands-on training in real-world healthcare settings and our unique community-based clerkship program, you’ll work closely with experienced chiropractors to develop practical skills, patient care techniques, and professional confidence. This immersive approach ensures you’re fully prepared to excel as a skilled and compassionate chiropractor upon graduation.
Clinical education is the foundation of our chiropractic curriculum. Chiropractic schools vary in the point in the curriculum you begin your clinical experiences, as well as the depth and breadth of clinical experiences throughout the program of study. The Campbellsville chiropractic program offers you a series of clinical observation courses starting in your first semester and continuing until you begin your community-based clerkship courses in your seventh semester.
During semesters 1 - 6, you will observe real clinical cases involving patients and families, with a clinician mentor as your guide. Throughout these six clinical observation semesters, you will develop the essential skills and knowledge you need to prepare for your hands-on clinical practicum. By building your clinical experience early in our chiropractic curriculum, you will gain a better understanding of the complexities of caring for patients and their families, along with more deeply developed communication skills.
Our chiropractic educational requirements and chiropractic curriculum seamlessly integrate clinical concepts and experiences with foundational science. We've organized our courses to remove silos and cut across subject matter lines, bringing together disparate components of the curriculum. Integrating chiropractic business operation courses with clinical experiences ensures that you'll learn how to operate your own practice or take on the leadership of an existing practice.
Our chiropractic curriculum builds in complexity over time, challenging you to master new concepts quickly as you build upon your previous knowledge. Our students find that our integrated, logical approach to curriculum delivery better prepares them to succeed early in their chiropractic careers, compared to their peers.
Building on the clinical experience you'll gain in semesters 1-6, in your seventh semester, you'll begin your community-based clerkship.
You can perform your clerkship anywhere in the country with an established practicing chiropractor of your choice. You'll work in tandem with your chiropractor mentor to develop a rich, integrated perspective on diagnosing and treating diseases and disorders. You'll also gain valuable insights into the social determinants of health and recovery and the value of multidisciplinary care as you observe differing business processes and develop the clinical and business skills you need for your career.
Through our chiropractic curriculum and clinical experiences, we also partner with a multitude of community-based clinicians. You'll have opportunities to observe and practice in a variety of different clinical settings in different disciplines, reinforcing interdisciplinary care concepts. The business courses taught concurrently with the community-based clerkship are designed to prepare you for practice within a variety of professional settings.
Our magnificent new 45,000-square-foot School of Chiropractic is filled with cutting-edge technology that ensures graduates master the academic knowledge and clinical skills needed to succeed. Our tech delivers everything students need and nothing they don't.
Touch screen Anatomage tables help students visualize and understand the anatomy and physiology concepts of a real human body in a technologically advanced way, and without the ethical and practical issues associated with the traditional use of cadavers. This fully segmented 3D anatomy system uses virtual dissection to present students with a highly effective, fully interactive, life-sized touch screen experience as if the patient were on an operating table.

Kinetisense 360 motion capture software in the Bluegrass Chiro Student Clinic adds the power of artificial intelligence to help students develop better diagnostics in a real-world setting.
The fully operational clinic helps students familiarize themselves with the inner workings of a medical practice, such as managing electronic health records, using an X-ray machine, developing physical therapy plans, and practicing good bedside manner techniques.
Ours is among the first chiropractic schools in the world to have a force-sensing table, which simulates chiropractic adjustments and gives students real-time feedback. With three large monitors that show students the angle, force, and time-delayed analyses of their adjustments, the simulator allows students to repeatedly practice treating different body types, focus on patients' progress and comfort, and develop consistency in their techniques.

The new facility, dedicated entirely to the School of Chiropractic, also features a radiology suite, physical therapy zone, spacious classrooms, and an open atrium that serves as a student living room, study, and event space.

“Attending CU's Chiropractic program is more than just earning letters behind your name and the right to treat patients in the real world. It is about building the community, serving those in need, understanding the difference that we can make, & so much more. This program strives to make certain that everyone who comes through the doors has exactly what they need to succeed through school & well into their future careers. They provide the ability to build your network with fellow students & with current Chiropractors in the surrounding areas! I personally have been blessed enough to meet with numerous different providers that all have a variety of different practice styles, which allows me to develop into a more well-rounded chiropractor that is ready for any type of patient that may walk into my future clinic. I was also able to serve on a short-term mission trip while attending this program that brought my faith & passion to help others together in an unforgettable way. CU can feel like home if you let it. You build friendships that can last a lifetime & professional relationships that can propel you forward in the Chiropractic world. Here at Campbellsville Chiropractic, there are endless possibilities.”
