Merge Children’s Ministry Coordinator

The role of the Merge Children’s Ministry Coordinator is to work in cooperation with the Associate Pastor to guide children into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ through a developed, coordinated, and family-integrated children’s ministry.

• A clear passion and calling for children’s ministry within the church

• Highly relational, with the ability to recruit, equip and mobilize volunteers and teams

• Proactive, takes initiative, self-directed and works independently without supervision

• Strong communication skills with the ability to resolve issues in a professional manner.

• Has a relentless eye for spatial organization and cleanliness.

• Administrative and organizational skills


Education/Experience:

• Ideally currently serving in Merge Children’s Ministry (or in children’s ministry elsewhere)

• Background in education or children’s ministry is a plus

• Professional / practical experience leading teams and developing programs

• Undergraduate degree is beneficial (or a willingness/desire to pursue an undergraduate degree)


Responsibilities:

This is a part-time position working 20 hours/week (approximate schedule: 2 hours on Sunday, 4 hours on Wednesday, and 14 hours during the week). The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed:

• Work with associate pastor to schedule, recruit and equip volunteers for Sunday morning and Wednesday night children’s ministry programs, as well as special events

• Maintain open communication with Merge Children’s Ministry team

• Plans for and implements the training, development, and appreciation of all volunteer teams

• Assist in evaluating, selecting and purchasing a curriculum that effectively teaches the Word of God to the children. The director should develop a family-integrated model by coordinating Sunday and Wednesday curriculum with parental opportunities to teach at home.

• Purchasing and preparing supplies needed for preschool and elementary ministries.

• Remain knowledgeable about the departments, curriculum, ministries and events and assist volunteers in preparing for services and events

• Willing and ready to teach in any classroom as needed

• Able to run registration

• Maintain ministry database and files including, but not limited to: applications, background checks, registration forms, manual check-in, incident reports

• Be able to update social media outlets, website, and church app

• Assist in set-up/tear down of classrooms for Sundays and Wednesdays

• Work with associate pastor in organizing special events such as, but not limited to: Egg Hunt, Trunk or Treat, Family Fun Nights, Vacation Bible School, Baby Dedications, Parent/Volunteer Training Events

• Ensure clean and family friendly environments are maintained.

• Develop and maintain security and first impressions through background checks for all volunteers, recommend facility improvements, and create and enforce necessary policies.

• Resource room maintenance, organization and inventory of materials and supplies.
