Family Advocate

Central Kentucky Community Action Council Head Start is now accepting resumes for multiple Family Advocate positons. Head Start serves Hardin, Larue, Marion, Meade, Nelson and Washington counties. Applicant must have skills and ability to assist families in meeting their needs and goals, while meeting the requirements of the Head Start Performance Standards including Health, knowledge of child Health and Safety, Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment and Attendance. In addition, this individual will possess the ability to build partnerships with families, advocate for families and assist families to identify available resources to meet their needs and concerns.

Qualifications and duties include but not limited to:  

  • Must meet required Head Start Performance Standards for Community and Community Partnerships
  • Must be able to follow agency Standards of Conduct
  • Must be able to learn and abide by all federal, state and local laws/regulations governing the program
  • Must have impeccable communication skills both orally and written
  • Must adhere to agency’s confidentiality policy
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must work in a positive and effective manner with families regardless of culture, race, ethnicity, background or history
  • Must promote professional relationships with community providers
  • Must be able to flex schedule and responsibilities to accommodate the agency’s service provision
  • Must be able to visit in family’s homes to complete home visits
  • Responsible in the delivery of key services to families as enrollment and transition
  • Responsible for monitoring attendance and maintaining appropriate documentation
  • Responsible for assisting families to schedule and meet schedules medical, dental, vision exams, treatment and follow ups
  • Responsible for the completion of required health screenings
  • Responsible to partner with other staff in the development of workshops, trainings, parent teacher meetings, parent committee meetings, center newsletter, parent correspondence
  • Will have other responsibilities as assigned from Head Start Director, PFCE Manager
