SUMMARY

The success for information technology organizational security starts with the proper administration of security controls and services. The Information Security Administrator stands between the Credit Union’s team and our members to ensure the safety of the information with which we are privileged to manage.

To be successful, the Security Administrator will be responsible for implementing, preserving, protecting, and enforcing the overall information security footprint for the Credit Union and will often serve as the first point of contact for the day-to-day administrative functions that encapsulate these duties and responsibilities.

The Information Security Administrator is largely responsible for the classification, assessment, and management of our security controls across our operating environment. This includes but is not limited to the administration of switches, routers, firewalls, 3rd party devices and applications within the environment that have a security-based control and impact (our CORE will be managed separately). The Security Administrator also conducts lifecycle assessments for existing security-based products and services, implements new controls and/or services and ensures that we are compliant with appropriate policies, regulations and guidelines as directed by the CISO and/or regulatory requirements. The role will ensure full compliance with IT security policies and industry best practices in accordance with the NIST guidelines for administrative functions and duties. The security administrator also serves as the first point of contact for the incident response plan and will be responsible for executing those tasks and duties.

A successful administrator will foster strong relationships with vendors and business units as it pertains to his or her areas of responsibility. There will be interaction with personnel at all levels within the Credit Union and the security administrator will work closely with other IT team members to accomplish common objectives that will require a focused, goal-oriented, self-disciplined and highly motivated individual with the ability to prioritize tasks (often on short notice) while promoting a strong information security posture and education objective to the organization.
