Senior Minister Job Description
Senior Minister (reports to Board of Elders and Deacons)
General Purpose of Position
To shepherd the flock of Russell Springs Christian Church through the preaching of the gospel, the teaching of God’s Word, caring for individuals, and providing leadership necessary to carry out the mission of RSCC.
Responsibilities
1. Preach Sunday mornings and other services as scheduled
2. Teach Wednesday evening Bible study
3. Plan worship services, including special services
4. Perform baptisms, marriages, and funerals
5. Hold regular office hours
6. Visit sick, shut-in, and prospective members
7. Teach Sunday School as needed
8. Provide counseling
9. Promote healthy relationships and fellowship between church members
10. Welcome visitors to the church
11. Oversee Youth Director/Minister and Secretary
12. Serve as ex officio member of all teams/committees
13. Represent RSCC through involvement in community activities
14. Report monthly activities to the Board
15. Develop a vision for the church with the Board
16. Other duties as assigned by the Elders or as necessary for the well-being of the church
Qualifications
1. Must be a Christian
2. College degree
3. Must be ordained in the Christian Church
4. Good organizational and training skills
5. Ability to preach and teach
6. Must have the ability to work well with all ages
7. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills |
